Chaney Indoor Thermometer and Humidity Gauge Review. Indoor Thermometer with humidity reading....

 "Great inexpensive digital hygrometer" 2009-12-22
By D. Timm (Rochester, MN)

I bought this same hygrometer packaged as Acu-Rite brand from a Mill's Fleet Farm more than a year ago. I've always had it turned on since then, and I've never had to change the batteries. I tested the unit not long after I bought it and again just yesterday (using the NaCl and distilled water test) and after 8 hours the display stabilized at 75% just as it should. This is great to see from a $10 unit. I've traveled with this product and it has held up through that as well. I've never tested the accuracy of the thermometer, as I mainly bought this instrument to read RH in an instrument (guitar) room, and guitar cases. I've also owned "The Weather Channel" brand weather stations with built in hygrometers that were more than twice the cost of this product, and found them to read more than 10% off when testing.

Maybe I got lucky and happened to buy a accurate unit, but from my experience with this I highly recommend buying yourself one.

I really like this item. It's very handy and the icons are simple but explanatory at a glance. The only other thing I wish it had was a way to hang it up other than by magnetic as I live in a log home. I'm only sorry I didn't get it sooner!

"Bought Two and Readings Were the Same" 2010-05-09
By Mark Emdee (USA, California)

I bought one and liked it so much that I wanted another one to compare the measurements. I ordered the second one two weeks after ordering the first one, and then I had to wait two more weeks because Amazon was out of them; so maybe they were of different production lots. The readings on each were exactly same on each, except for the temperature on one may have been 0.5 degrees higher. I also like that the MIN and MAX readings are for only the last 24 hours; who cares that an extreme was months ago.

I purchased three of these and have them through out the house. They are accurate, easy to read and cost effective.

Eatsmart Precision Plus Digital Bathroom Scale with Ultra Wide Platform and Step-on Technology, 440-Pounds

|

Eatsmart Precision Plus Digital Bathroom Scale with Ultra Wide Platform and Step-on Technology, 440-Pounds Review. The EatSmart Precision Plus Bathroom Scale is the ideal way to track your weight loss quickly and easily. EatSmart's proprietary "Step On" technology allows you to simply step onto the scale and in seconds you'll have an accurate readout to the nearest .2 lbs on the EatSmart's oversized 4.3" LCD display. No more "waking up" your scale by tapping or pressing buttons! The LCD display also contains a cool-blue backlight, allowing for easy viewing even in the most dimly light areas of the bathroom or home. The EatSmart Precision Plus is also not only easy to use but also extremely accurate, engineered to the highest precision standards. The four high-gauge EatSmart precision G sensors ensure that you will get an accurate measurement every time. Additionally the slim, ergonomic design fits perfectly into any surroundings and oversized non-slip platform safely allows weights to 440 pounds (one of the highest capacities on the market). At over 15 inches wide this scale will fit even the big...

"Perfect for my whole family. Finally confident in my weights." 2010-02-19
By K. Ruggerio

I have anxiously awaited the release of this scale for some time and now that I finally have it I am even happier than I thought I could be. Everybody in my family is big. I am 6'4", 375 pounds, so the need for a scale that could handle my weight was actually relatively tough to find. After talking to the folks at EatSmart, they convinced me to hold out for this one and I am glad I did.

The platform itself is the biggest individual selling point for me. Its probably a good five inches wider than the last scale I had. It gives me piece of mind that I am being properly weighed and I don't have to worry about turning an ankle or worse because my feet are hanging off. The 440 lb capacity was also a must for me, and so far I have found it very accurate. It was within .2 lbs of the scale in my gym, so I am finally confident that I am loosing some weight. The backlit display is nice, but frankly unless you live in a cave I don't think you need it as the display is so big to start with.

The fact that this company also seems to stand behind their products is big for me. At 350+ lbs I have gone through a few scales over the years, and after talking with the owners at Eatsmart I would not hesitate to buy from them again. Probably the best purchase of my young Amazon career.

 "Awesome scale" 2010-02-21
By Army Wife

This is by far the best scale I have ever owned. I love the oversized platform, the clean look of it and that it only requires two batteries. You get the same weight no matter how many times you step on and off right in a row. I did this with every family member in my home to be sure it was accurate. It was right on every time. The prompt delivery by the company was a big plus.

"Great Product, Highly recommended - Easy To Use, Accurate!!!!" 2010-03-15
By SurfinWookie (Austin, TX)

I received an email asking to review this product, and after a few weeks of owning the product I am able to give my humble opinion on such a wonderful product.

I would like to say that Eatsmart is an Awesome company, I had sent them an email asking when the product would be out and within the same day I got a reply with the release date. Now the cool thing was when the product became available I actually got an update email from Eatsmart informing that the product was available and the included a link directly to the Amazon.com page. To me that is a plus in ensuring customer assistance and satisfaction. Product arrive a day earlier then expected - niiiiice.

Finally about the product:

1.Awesome scale - is within a .2 margin of those really expensive scales as well as most of the scales I have used at clinics and fitness centers. (Weighs up to 400lbs)

2. The large platform (length & width) of the scale is great especially being a tall person, it allows for you to stand on the scale more naturally then regular everyday scales where you may need to adjust your footing a bit when getting onto the scale. (15 inches wide)

3. The large LCD display is another plus to the scale allowing you to get a readout whether lights are on or off in the room. Display lights - reading stays up for a few seconds after stepping off to ensure that you are able to your weight (4.25 inch LCD display)

4. Very low profile, sleek and sexy design. The tempered glass may at first give way for concern but after my friends and I have have weighed ourselves with weights ranging from 200 - 365lbs I can assure you this scale will hold up. Using regular (AAA) batteries is another plus takes from one having to search for a inferior lithium watch battery.

5. Quality x Value x cost - Can't be beat (In my opinion - but i did my fair share of scouring the internet looking, and researching in the end I kept coming back to Eatsmart and there fine line of products)

Overall I am very pleased with the company for producing such a nice piece of equipment that should be in everyone's home. Great product for the $$$

 "Absolutely Thrilled" 2010-02-22
By J. Lang (CALIFORNIA)

Eat smart asked me to write a review on my new scale, which I am more than happy to do given how pleased I am. This is my first bathroom scale, although as a frequent traveler I have seen my fair share in hotel bathrooms and used quite a few of those.

Couple of things stand out to me. Its super wide and thin. No worries about slipping off it. Weight seems on the money and consistent. Takes regular batteries and is really really nice looking (the display is huge and lit up very very well). I will definitely be buying another for my guest bathroom and will happily recommend it to friends and family.

Kudos Eat smart.

"EatSmart 440 lb scale, very nice" 2010-03-21
By D. Hanselmann (Iowa)

I was looking for a scale and had been doing a fair amount of looking around the net in order to find one that would be both consistent and accurate. Well, I found this model that says it'll handle up to 440 lbs. I am about 6'1" and weigh 185.(according to the scale) I was a little apprehensive at first when I saw this model with all the others listed. I then began to read the small handful of reviews that were listed at the time. I simply wanted a unit that I could rely on and wouldn't have all the bells and whistles that are offered on some of the other brands/models. I didn't find out until later that the reason there were not many reviews was because this model was in fact brand new and had just come out.

My order experience could have been better but to be honest, I'm glad it happened the way that it did. The day the scale showed up at my door it was defective. I had un-boxed it, inserted the two AAA batteries which it came with, and turned it over, set it down, stepped on it, and nothing. For some reason it was not working. Needless to say it was a pretty basic problem and I was able to fix it and it has been working ever since. After I fixed it I contacted the manufacturer to let them know about the problem I had with my scale, and after I received a very fast response from them I was thrilled to be a proud owner of a new EatSmart scale. So, even though I had a problem at first I can honestly say that I can recommend this scale to anyone. The company will stand behind the product. Order with confidence! Three other of my friends and family have based on my experience.

Cuisinart GTF Gold Tone Filter

Cuisinart GTF Gold Tone Filter Review. Gold tone filter...

 "EXCELLENT!" 2005-12-13
By B. Banks (South Florida USA)

I have used this filter with my Grind-n-Brew for 2 years. I put it in the dishwasher at least twice and have never had any problems with it. I have no idea what these other reviewers are doing wrong, but I love this filter. I never have grounds in my coffee. There is always a little darker/thicker coffee in the bottom of a good cup of coffee!

As for price, $20 is NOT the actual price for this filter. $10 is the "real" price, so you are not getting a deal on Amazon especially when you add shipping (unless you are getting free shipping). I have seen the same $10 filter at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Ace Hardware, and Publix.

Overall, if you enjoy a good cup of coffee and do not want to put the chemicals added to paper filters in your body, buy this coffee filter!

 "Basic filter" 2005-01-20
By Peggy (Norfolk, VA United States)

The first one I had I frequently put in the dishwasher and it lasted a little over a year, so I will hand wash this one. The price here is the same as the manufacturer's site, but for now you save on the shipping.

 "Durable" 2006-11-19
By DRiley (United States)

I've had this filter for almost two years now. I usually hand wash it, but it holds up to the dishwasher as well. The only complaint I have is that it has a tendency to get grounds caught in the bottom of the filter, where the plastic joins the screen. Overall, I've been very happy with this filter, and if it wears out, I plan on replacing it with another Cuisinart.

 "replacement filter" 2007-01-11
By P. OBrien (great lakes)

what can you say about a replacement filter? it works, fits just right and is cheap. kind of like my husband.

 "It's a coffee filter!" 2007-02-13
By KCSamerica (Cleveland, OH USA)

Ah, my new gold tone filter is the envy of all my friends (well, one of them at least)! With over 58,000 holes, you can be assured no course grounds of coffee will sink to the bottom of your carafe, leaving a layer of coffee unworthy of drinking. You won't catch any floaters in your carafe either. What does this mean? This means you won't drink your savory cup of coffee not realizing these little pesky floaters. You won't get that scratchy feeling slithering down the back of your throat, itching at every breath. You won't be embarrassed to smile, knowing your teeth are free and clear of dark brown specks lodged between. So... is it sad that I took this amount of time to write, or sad that you spent that amount of time actually appreciating a review for a coffee filter?!

So, seriously, it's a coffee filter. It works.

Microplane 40020 Grater/Zester

|

Microplane 40020 Grater/Zester Review. Here's a zester that means business! You'll have a mound of zest in seconds flat with minimal effort. This tool also shreds Parmesan and other hard cheeses quickly and efficiently....

"Wish I'd bought this grater MONTHS ago!" 2000-08-16
By (Birmingham, Al USA)

I purchased this after spending 2 hours zesting limes for a gourmet cookie recipe with the traditional potato-peeler+ food processor method. The most time consuming part is carefully scraping way all the white pith on the inside of the peel. The pith is very bitter and can ruin your recipe. This zester did the same job in 30 seconds and didn't even touch the pith. Just pure, perfect lime zest with no effort. Totally worth its weight in gold. Now I can make those cookies again without my hands cramping up after hours scraping the peels. Who has time for that?

I've also started using it for grating parmesan. Definately takes Ceaser salads and pasta up a notch. I'm purchasing several more as gifts for my friends. Would make an incredible (and cheap) holiday/birthday gift for anyone, even the casual cook. Please note that the size of the grated zest or cheese is very fine and not ideal as a garnish. Parmesan or Romano grated with this tool melts quickly into the pasta, and doesn't lend much to the presentation. Tastes great, but hard to see. If you're looking for a garnishing tool, this is not it.

 "Microplane Works!" 2003-11-08
By In My Garden (In My Garden)

When I received this wonderful product I placed it in the drawer and mostly forgot about it until it was time to grate some parmesan cheese. I remembered I had bought it, brought it out and pressing the cheese hard against the grater I ran it down. To my absolute amazement the cheese came out the underside of the grater with total ease. I ran the cheese across it again, this time, pressing lightly and the same thing happened. Whenever I had grated cheeses before the job was ardurous, very time consuming, and the result was usually more of a powder then nicely sectioned flakes of hard cheese.

This grater is made of the very best material and extremely sharp! I can see owning this tool for many years because of its quality. I am very pleased with my purchase and encourage others to buy one.

The grater came with the manufacturers "slip cover" over it and I decided to keep it on the grater when not in use for two reasons:

1. The grating surface is very sharp. It would be easy to cut yourself pulling this out of the drawer. Ouch!

2. I want to preserve the grating surface's blades for as long as possible because this is now one of my favorite tools.

"This tool will not grate on your nerves" 2003-10-08
By

This is probably the only tool in my kitchen that I've also found in my dad's workshop. I use it for a variety of grating tasks including hard cheeses, chocolate, nutmeg, cinnamon, and citrus zests.

For hard cheeses such as parmesan, you'll get a nice, light fluffy pile of cheese as opposed to the grittier result from a traditional box grater. This is because the Microplane actually produces tiny, thin strips as opposed to hard little granules. Your cheese will melt faster and will actually look somewhat elegant perched in a snowy mound atop a bowl of pasta.

Hard spices such as nutmeg grate quickly and easily, and it's a snap to run the Microplane over an orange or lemon for just the right amount of zest and no pith (unless you press to hard or work the same spot too long). With wetter foods like zest, you will have to slide the resulting product from the backside of the plane as it does tend to stick, but this only takes a quick flick of your finger. Chocolate will need to be quite cold so that it's hard enough to grate without melting or slipping.

Finally, the Microplane is extremely easy to use because you can grate right into the pot or onto a plate. It's long enough to rest on the lip of most bowls, and it's elegant enough to bring to the table. In fact, we recently had a dinner party and we passed around this tool so that our guests could grate just the right amount of bittersweet chocolate into their black-bean chili.

Cleaning can be a bit tricky with this tool, since its sharp holes will catch on a towel when you try to dry it. Personally, I find that a few hard taps dislodge any gunk and I seldom need to actually wash it. But if you do get it wet, be sure to dry it thoroughly as you would with any fine kitchen knife. If you wipe toward the handle, it shouldn't be a problem.

 "My favorite grater ever" 2000-04-28
By

Since receiving a Microplane zester and grater as a gift, my old tried-and-true box grater has been living in the dark. This thing is incredible. It's especially impressive when you think of how long it's been since something new in grater "technology" hit the shelves. I love the Microplane's shape--it's like a wand with a big comfy handle, so you just hold it with one hand over a dish or a pan or with the tip pressed on the countertop. The hardest cheese shears into grated fluff with almost no pressure. Storage is a no-brainer. It's about the size of a baster, so it lives in my flatware drawer. I'm in puppy love.

"There is no greater grater" 2002-11-29
By Jonathan S. Haas (Redmond, WA United States)

The entire Microplane line is a marvel of culinary engineering. The well-stocked kitchen will have several Microplane graters, but this one is perhaps the most versatile.

Just a few quick and easy passes around your favorite citrus, and you've got a nice neat pile of zest, pith-free, suitable for your angel food cake, dessert souffle, or fruit cookie. You will never again buy pre-grated Parmesan cheese, nor will you ever again waste your money on the cardboard specks your grocery store calls pre-grated nutmeg. (And trust me, you haven't had eggnog until you've had it dusted with fresh nutmeg.) Need chocolate dust? Not a problem. Takes a couple of seconds.

Buy a whole set of Microplanes and throw away your uncomfortable, unsafe, and hard-to-clean box grater. One of the best low-tech kitchen innovations in years.

Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Rewind Upright Vacuum, Bagless, UH70120 Review. Keeping the standard of clean set on high, Hoover introduces the new Windtunnel T-Series family of bagless upright vacuums, combining sleek, lightweight design with superior cleaning power that is easy to use, at a practical price. This hi-tech bagless vacuum has ingenious options, such as an automatic rewind cord for quick and easy wrap up when you are done cleaning and a height adjustment feature to ensure roll brushes are at the proper height. A cord clip is just below the handle on the back side of the unit and it keeps the cord out of the way while cleaning. Requiring minimal maintenance, the Windtunnel T-Series has a rinsable filter that can be easily cleaned under running water and a high quality HEPA filter - neither of which will need to be replaced with proper care. The Windtunnel T-Series vacuums feature Hoover's patented Windtunnel technology with air passages that trap dirt and channel it into the dirt cup, significantly minimizing blowback or scatttering back onto the flo...

"Great vacuum for a great price" 2010-01-15
By Mr. Rohwer (Utah)

I love this vacuum! It is one of the best purchases I've ever made.

PROS:

* Picks up so much hidden dirt in our thick carpet, it scared us the first time we looked in the canister!

* For how much power it has, it is actually very quiet - actually quieter than our old 10 amp vacuum

* Turns on a dime and gets into nooks and crannies really well - we don't have to use the hand tools on every single wall edge

* The attachment with moving brushes cleans stares amazingly well

* No filters or bags to buy - this is a huge plus as we could never find a replacement filter for our old vacuum

* The cord is very long and it retracts into the vacuum. Wow. I find wrapping up long cords so annoying. Having this cord self retract is actually kind of fun (ok, so I'm easily amused!)

* The color is trendy.

* It is fairly lightweight

* I like that you can adjust the height for different carpet lengths. I know that this isn't really a groundbreaking feature, but not all vacuums have it and it makes a big difference.

CONS:

* While it is comparatively lightweight, people that have a hard time lifting may find it a little heavy.

* Other reviews complain that pet hair can get stuck in the canister, and that at times you may have to reach in slightly with two fingers to pull the hairs out. To me, this is only a minor annoyance. I also think that with any bagless vacuum, there will usually be some occasional contact with the materials that you you are cleaning off of your carpets.

OVERALL: This is a great vacuum for the price. If this is within your price range, you should go for it.

 "Great Vacuum Cleaner!" 2010-01-09
By A. M. Murphy (USA)

My daughter and her b/f gave me this vacuum cleaner for Christmas.

The first time I used it I could have sworn it was self-propelled.

I have a bad back and it was always difficult for me to drag the vacuum cleaner out and push it across the floor, never mind having to coil the cord back up after-wards. This vacuum is very light in comparison to my Dirt Devil.

I have a cat that sheds terribly and I was amazed at how much fur was collected, never mind the fine dust, etc. Emptying the cup was ok. Some of the fur got stuck at the bottom, I had to put two fingers in and pull it out.. no biggie!

All in all, I'm very happy with this product. No bags, no filters to buy, not even the Hepa filter needs to be replaced.

"Love my Windtunnel, not just because its green :)" 2010-03-06
By Chyrl Duggan (Amarillo, Texas)

I LOVE this vacuum! The vacuum before this one, which is in the shop again was an expensive Bissell which was a giant waste of money. It doesn't have nearly the power this one seems to have. I thought I had clean floors until I ran this the first time. For someone that cleans their carpet regularly and vacuums all the time, my old vacuum must have been a bigger piece of garbage than I could imagine.

This Windtunnel has picked up dirt I didn't know existed in my carpet. Not only is the power good, I love the retractable cord. That is a feature I didn't think I'd like, and could definitely live without. Well, I have completely changed my mind there.

I haven't had any issues with the on board tools and they stay in place in their storage much better than other vacuums I've owned.

The vacuum doesn't weigh as much as others I've owned. I LOVE that! Its easy to move around from room to room, and if I had stairs I wouldn't mind having to use this one. I've lugged some extremely heavy vacuums up stairs. This one is quite manageable.

I do like the way you dump the canister, however, if you aren't doing it outside, or into a trash can that is empty, so you can get it down in there, it will make a mess. I only made a mess the first time, because I wasn't ready for the bottom to flip out, the bottom flap came out and hit the edge of the trash cash and I had to sweep up a little mess.

The only thing it seems to be missing is a light. However, I must not really need one because I just noticed it today and I've had it for 3 weeks.

For the price, its features and its performance, I had to give it 5 stars!

I bought this item from Best Buy and got the 4 year extended warranty for less than $20.

 "Sucks great!" 2010-04-13
By Amanda (Pgh, PA)

I was embarassed after seeing what this vacuum got out of my rugs and carpets. Apparently I might as well have not been vacuuming the past 10 years with my old Bissell. I did a test and used my old vacuum on a rug we just bought 5 months ago, and then used this new Hoover.

Vacuumed with the old one, with a brand new bag in it...ok. Vacuumed with the Hoover, OMG!!! Where was all that dirt/dust/hair hiding??? It had half a canister full of who knows what.

I eventually did my entire house. Wall to wall carpeting in the bedrooms and other area rugs. When all was said and done I had an entire grocery bag full of crap what was in my rugs!!! The air felt and smelled almost cleaner even immediately after using this vacuum.

The only downsides are, this model doesn't have a light. Which I didn't think I'd miss until I busted out the flashlight to get into tight or dark areas that I could not see...oh well. It doesn't have an on/off brushroll...which some might wish it did. I however, don't usually vacuum my hard floors, I usually Swiffer them, so it isn't really an issue for me. The little bit more expensive "pet" model had a carbon filter, which might have been nice for when I vacuum up cat litter and such. But those few cons didn't really stack up to the $50-60 price difference it would have been...so overall I am really happy with this model. It does what it needs to. And apparently 10x better than my old vacuum was. That vacuum went out to the trash that night.

I have never been so excited to vacuum before! Oh and the retracable cord is super. I didn't think I'd really care about it, but you literally have the cord put away in about 5 seconds, no more winding! I just worry over time it will break or something, but I'm just careful with it. I really can't say enough good things about this vacuum. Having never had a Hoover before I can't really compare it. I've used Eureka and Bissell before. And never had a bagless before either. But I am very pleased with this vacuum. I got it at $100 so I think for that price it does a GREAT job. I can't imagine how something for hundreds of more dollars like a Dyson or anything, could be THAT much better???

 "Fantastic...Best Vacuum We've Owned" 2010-01-06
By C. Dobis (Michigan USA)

Just bought this vacuum. Had it for about two weeks now. When I first brought it home, for kicks I vacuumed my floor with my 5 year old bissell vacuum first to see if it was actually getting everything. Then I vacuumed with this new one, and WOW, the canister had about a half inch of dirt and dust that it picked up where the old vacuum left behind. I love the retracting cord, it works splendid. The accessories tube and edge cleaning device are great, and the suction is insane. You could suck up large bolts from across the room (exaggerating of course). I also love the fact that the filters are all cleanable. The foam secondary filter can be washed with water, but the HEPA filter can only be brushed off into the trash when dirty. No washing that one, but they claim it will last for 2 or more years without replacing. My wife loves the color, but of course, I'm all about performance, and I have to admit, for the price, this vacuum performs well above and beyond my expectations. Enjoy!

"A Water Faucet Filter That Actually Works!" 2009-11-08
By M. Schnitzer (New York, NY USA)

The Brita faucet filter does an excellent job of filtering out impurities from tap water -- that is, when it manages to stay attached to the faucet. However, in my experience with it (two years and two different models), a tremendous amount of my valuable time was wasted trying to reattach the filter after it would repeatedly fall off. Although I have no direct experience with the Pur faucet filter, my understanding (drawn from other reviews) is that it suffers from the same problem.

Happily, after purchasing the CULLIGAN Faucet Filter several months ago, I can now report with confidence that it is plagued by no such similar defect. In other words, once attached, it remains firmly in place, and works every bit as effectively as rival brands. So for anyone who has tried those other brands and encountered endless frustration in endeavoring to keep them attached to the faucet, my advice is: Don't give up just yet! Try the Culligan model. It's solidly built, competitively priced, and replacement cartridges are readily available from Amazon. For me, at least, the Culligan at last put an end to the gratuitous, time-wasting burden of having to continually reattach a recalcitrant water filter.

 "Better than brita" 2005-03-11
By Wanda Sparkman

I love the culligan water systems. The base that the cartridge goes into is made better than britas,With brita I was buying a new base with almost every cartridge change and culligan is superior in price ,quality and every other aspect. And I think the water also taste better than water that is filtered using brita.Try it and see for yourself

We have water with strong chlorine taste, these filters take that away well. It's easy to install, cheap, and surprisingly high quality!!! We also use them for longer than the recommended 2 months, it still filters it just gets slow.

 "Works for me!" 2010-05-17

I wanted a simple but effective economical water filter for my apartment. I did considerable research (including purchasers of various products at Amazon) and at Consumers Reports as well as various internet sites. What appeared to be the best solution for me was a filter that attached to the tap. Simple to attach and effective water filtration. I've been using the Culligan FM-15RA level 3 filter for over a year now and besides being economical it is easy to install and to replace filters (every few months). Since purchasing, we had our water professionally checked for chlorine, bacteria and contaminents (metals etc) and it came through with fjying colors. We are very pleased with the unit.

This faucet water filter is compact and does not take up much space like the other filters on the market.

Fits in my kitchen sink perfectly without any adaptors that were provided.

If you are like me and need a compact size faucet filter...look no further. This product appears to sturdy and installed without any leaks like some other faucet filters do.

Highly recommeneded.

 "Love this little vac!" 2005-02-18
By Karen B. (Tucson, AZ USA)

This is a fantastic little vac. It isn't as loud as my last stick vac and it doesn't scratch my wood floors. The first day I bought it I really put it through the paces. I was impressed with how well it cleans floors, carpets and rugs with fringe. I love the fact that you can turn off the roller to do the fringed rugs and floors. It picked up popcorn and screws easily. Sand and gravel from the kids shoes, no problem. After a rain, the floor got a little muddy from all the kids going in and out so I just turned on the brush and VOILA, the dried mud went right up.

It really does stand on it's own, even on a soft cushy carpet.

The only changes left to make is to lengthen the cord a bit and put a small pull-out nozzle high up on the side so I can use it for practically everything, such as dusting windowsills. I won't let my wish list ruin the review though. 5 stars for the best little vac I've had yet.

"The guy review of a bagless vacuum-UPDATE" 2005-11-26
By Skylark in Tucson (USA)

I went out looking for a small vacuum WITH a bag, trying to avoid the bagless (didn't want to deal with the dust), but changed my mind when I found this one.

Excellent and no-nonsense. I can whip this baby out and have it running in 3 seconds. This thing is great for quick clean ups, like the kitchen, although I have used it for a complete downstairs vacuuming

Good points: two modes--carpet and floor. Works both surfaces great. The carpet-mode simply powers up the power head roller.

The low-profile, swivel head means I can get under everything, everywhere, even couches, which means less furniture to move.

Quick-release power cord hook, so I'm not spending five minutes unraveling the reasonably-long cord.

See-thru "unbag" so you know when it's getting full.

It is small enough to store anywhere, even has a hole in the top of the handle to hang in a closet.

Bad points: I'm thinking hard on this one. OK, the power switch is too low (see the picture). It is also bagless, which I found is actually GOOD point as it keeps this vacuum light and small. The "bag" is very easy to pull out and empty. With no bags to buy, the price makes this an excellent choice.

It's also great for chasing cats around the house.

UPDATE: The handle needs some kind of rubber coating to prevent it from falling when leaned against a wall or counter; managed to break the lower cord catch due to repeated falls. Naturally, I immediately bought another (from Amazon, of course).

 "LOVE THIS VAC!" 2005-09-30
By MotherOfThree (Florida)

I agree with other users. This Vac really gets its done! I was so happy with it's ability to pick up small/lightweight items, and when used up against baseboards it got everything! I LOVE the fact you can switch on/off the carpet brush feature, my full size Vas was too powerful for my area rugs, and this Flair gets the job done easily! Everytime I use it I am shocked at how much it has picked up! Things I didn't even know were there! The largest items I've seen it pick up so far was a Cheerio without a problem. And my 16 month old doesn't mind the mild sound of this Vac either! I have recommended to all my family and friends with tile or wood floor, works great! I would also like to see a longer cord and detachable hose feature for tough to reach spots, but overall this is 5 star!

"THE FERRARI OF VACUUMS! Bright Red, Really Handles On the Corners!" 2005-08-30
By J. Johnson (San Mateo, CA)

My wonderful hubby got this for me last xmas. Of course, I "helped" him pick it out after much research.

I actually have a full sized shop-vac that I use inside for cleaning every couple of days because we have 2 cats, a dog and a very messy husband and son. Our dog likes to carry her food around the house...don't ask me why. My husband gardens...I'm surprised there's any dirt left in the yard with as much as he tracks in! I use a triple filter on it, works great. I throw the attachments in the dishwasher after I use them and they're sparkling clean and sanitized.

But in between the shop-vac cleanings I use my sports car...uuuhhh...I mean vacuum. It is awesome on bare floors as well as my polypropylene rug. I don't have any carpet in the house, but I can't imagine it wouldn't be awesome on that as well.

This thing is soooooo cute that I keep it in the dining/family room! I love it! You just turn the handle right or left and it turns for you. It's really light and is low profile so it fits under my cabinets.

There are two "speeds". Suction alone, and suction + beater bar. In fact, it has such suction that I can't vacuum smaller rugs such as the one in the bathroom (22" x 60") because the vacuum sucks them up when the beater bar is on.

It has a totally cool filtration system. I'm allergic to dust and I haven't had any sort of a problem while using it. When it gets full, you empty out the dirt cup and you're on your way. If you don't empty the cup when you should, the vacuum loses all suction to prevent overheating, which is a great feature.

Ok, just a couple of negative points. I had to take it apart once (we're talking like 1 screw) to unclog it. That was my booboo because I let it get overstuffed.

Another things is that it has a sort of burning rubber smell. It doesn't bother me but I sprinkled a bit of those carpet granules on the rug, vacuumed it up and it smells gorgeous now.

No, I don't work for Hoover. No, I'm not getting commission for this review. We didn't even buy it on Amazon. This is the only review I've written so far, and that really says something!

"I love this vac, too!" 2006-01-21
By Lynn in PA (SE PA, U.S.A.)

I'm so happy with the S2220 stick vac that I'm giving it 5 stars, despite my one major complaint: The final filters, on either side of the upper body (red part), can not be cleaned but have to be replaced when they get dirty. The part number is 591360-22 and only costs $1.99 (for one)--but Hoover charges $7.50 shipping for this part which could easily be mailed in a regular, legal sized envelope. It can most easily be located doing a search for, "59136022." Amazon does not sell this. If anyone finds a place that has lower s/h than Hoover, please share it here.

Other than the above, I couldn't be happier. This is my third Hoover stick vac and by far the best. My first, a 2-speed Quik-Broom, purchased years ago, lacked a power nozzle but was great on hard floors. The cup had a much larger capacity, but it didn't trap dust from being exhausted the way the S2220 does. It was damaged by water so I replaced it with a Hoover S2571 Cyclonic Action 2-speed, which was never satisfactory. It's cup and filtering system were similar but different to the S2220 and it did a VERY poor job of even sucking-up kitty litter. When the plastic handle cracked, despite being carefully used, I researched stick vacs here and decided to try the S2220 since people raved about it.

Other reviewers who love this Hoover Flair are right, in my opinion. The swivel head is great, the machine is so light it's easy to clean steps with, and the power nozzle does a fantastic job of getting pet hair off even cheap doormats that were next to impossible to completely clean in the past. Floor cleaning is not my idea of a good time, but I'm finding that using the S2220 is so easy and convenient, that my floors are cleaner than ever.

Really, I am very pleased with this purchase. I just wish Amazon sold the replacement side filters.

Cuisinart DCC-1200PRC 12 Cup Replacement Carafe-Black Review. 12 cup replacement carafe black...

"It holds ALL of the coffee!" 2007-01-26
By Churchill J. Barton (Maine)

I received an e-mail from Amazon asking me to review this carafe, which I had purchased about two weeks ago. OK, I'll write a review. Here we go: In a world where carafes often go unnoticed, many carafes and carafe-like kitchen accessories struggled to rise above the masses; to gain recognition; to find some way to be different. This carafe, all by itself, did just that. Bravely staying put in the coffee maker while near-boiling coffee dripped in, resolutely holding this coffee for up to several hours so that the Joe wouldn't just flow freely across the kitchen counter top, this carafe decided to make a difference. Sometimes our world seems to be coming apart at the seams, but you can count on this carafe to hold your coffee together in one place. Coming soon to a theater near you. (I'm here all week; try the roast beef).

"A coffee pot is a coffee pot is a coffee pot" 2009-10-12
By A. J. Berns

To my amazement, this coffee pot functioned much like a coffee pot, except that it arrived in a box which had to be removed before making coffee. That complexity aside, it held liquid.

It is what it is: an exact replacement carafe for my Cuisinart CBC-00 series coffee maker.

I recently ordered a cofee pot from amazon, and it is a very fragile pot. It was packed very well, the right product which is a plus all by itself when ordering on line. It arrived very fast and in one piece thank you amazon. I can now get back on with my life with a fresh pot of java in the morn. R Clark

There are two different carafes that look the same, so make sure you get the right one. I went on the Cuisinart website to make sure I was getting the correct one. When I purchased this item it said it would take two weeks to ship out, but it actually came within two weeks.

Samsung : HAFCU1/XAA (DA29-00003G replaces DA29-00003B) Aqua-Pure Plus Refrigerator Water Filter Review. Fits Samsung refrigerators with a short round filter...

 "Exactly what I needed" 2010-03-24
By Slamastack (Columbia, MD USA)

I have a Samsung RFG297AABP French door refrigerator and this filter is the genuine Samsung filter I needed for it. If it takes you more than 30 seconds to swap these filters our, you're thinking too hard. Just twist, pull out the old one. Push in the new one and twist it in place. Couldn't be easier.

This filter is easy to remove and replace and makes our water taste good. Lasts for a good 3 months too.

By Christopher N. Dinardo

This is an exact replacement for the default filter that came with my Samsung refrigerator. So no surprises about how well it would work or for how long.

 "GREAT!" 2010-09-13
By Lolly1 (Nevada)

Looks exactly like the factory filter in my Samsung refrigerator and installation was a breeze! All you need to do is turn it until it comes off, but beware, some water may be left in the reservoir and it could drip so I advise you put a towel underneath the filter.

 "Very satisfied." 2010-02-24
By Mom in Tampa

Filter works perfectly in our Samsung french door refrigerator, no leaks. It was easy to install and our water comes out even faster now. What a convenient way to order! Only wish that Amazon offered the Subscribe and Save service for this item since it needs to be replaced every six months!

Black & Decker DCM18S Brew 'n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug

Black & Decker DCM18S Brew 'n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug Review. Wouldn't this make a great gift for a student, or a commuter? The machine brews right into the thermal travel mug and then shuts itself off, so your favorite coffee lover can simply grab and go!Great for commuters, office professionals, and one-coffee-drinker households, this personal coffeemaker brews 15 ounces of coffee directly into a stainless-steel travel mug. The mug has a rubber handle for a safe grip and a lid to keep coffee hot. It's tapered to a 2-1/2-inch-diameter bottom, so it fits most vehicle cup holders. The coffeemaker itself is designed for an on-the-go coffee drinker. It has a permanent filter--no messy disposable paper filters required--and shuts off automatically after brewing. The mug, filter, filter basket, and mug lid are dishwasher-safe, and the coffeemaker can also be used to heat water for tea, hot chocolate, and instant foods like oatmeal and soup. Made of gleaming black plastic, it measures 9-3/4 inches high, 7 inches wide, and 6 inches deep, and carries a ...

"Great Coffee With No Fuss" 2002-07-18
By

I read the reviews before ordering this personal coffee maker, and since some people had 'overflow problems' and some talked about coffee not being quite hot enough, I almost didn't get it.

Glad I went ahead. First, I put a small tray under the coffee maker in case of an overflow...I also always use a No. 1 size Mellita Filter in the basket, which makes it easier to clean and may help with the overflow problem, since I have never had that happen.

I use Folger's Classic Roast and use one and a half scoops with a regular size coffee scooper..I fill the cup within about 1/2" of the top and pour it in...put the cup in place, click the switch and ......perfectly hot, full bodied coffee every time with no problems at all so far...have used it about 20 times.

It makes a great large cup of coffee and the mug has a very comfortable feel to it. This coffee maker comes in handy when you don't want to mess with a full pot and it is very fast. I couldn't be more pleased - well worth the price!

 "Marriage saver" 2002-01-06
By J. BURGESON (Stratford, CT USA)

This nifty little coffeemaker is difficult to find in stores, so I was glad to see it at Amazon. It saved my marriage because my spouse doesn't drink coffee (hates the stuff) and there's no pot to clean. Even though it comes with a huge mug, the coffee tastes best when you use it with a normal china mug or cup, and with beans that are ground fine. I'm on my second one -- it lasts about four to five years in daily use. Not bad for the money. I won't drink coffee that's been sitting for more than five minutes, so the Brew 'n Go is perfect. If you're the only Joe drinker in the house, it's an absolute must!

"Had mine for 5 years and always works great" 2004-10-06
By Brian C. Clark (Hartford, CT)

I have had this machine for five years now so I thought someone might like to here a long term review. Mine does not have a stainless cup, but my cup is tapered like this one.

Pros:

1) Brews 1 cup (I'm the only one who drinks it).

2) Quick, about 2 minutes to brew and 5 to finish dripping.

3) Easy to clean. I have rinsed the entire unit several times.

4) No trash. Comes with a permanent filter.

5) Filter cleans easily. Just tap out the coffee in the trash and rinse.

5) Can be used with a timer. See below for explanation.

6) Takes up very little space.

7) Can be used with other cups. As long as you don't overflow the reservoir and your cup will fit under it, the cup will work.

Cons:

1) It is gravity fed through the filter so 5 minutes may be too long for some.

2) Be sure to line up the exit spout with hole. Once you get it you will see, but if you don't you will have coffee all over your counter.

3) If you grind you coffee to fine, you will get coffee grinds on the inside of the machine. No big deal as you can rinse the unit off easily.

Timer:

Once you activate the unit it will run until the reservoir is empty. The only way to stop it is to unplug it. However, if you plug it back in it will pick up where it left of. If you activate it with it unplugged, it will start as soon as it is plugged in. Therefore, if you want coffee when you wake up, all you need is a wall timer (about $5 from many sources). Set the timer to activate in the morning when you want your coffee. Prepare the machine like normal, depressing the activation button. When the timer turns on in the morning the machine will begin brewing your coffee.

"I don't know what's wrong with the other customer reviewers!" 2003-02-07
By

I recently read all of the customer reviews on this product and found myself laughing. Doesn't anyone know how to brew a cup of coffee? This product is excellent and I haven't had one single problem with my Brew 'n Go.

I've heard that it overflows; that they can't pour the water into the unit; that the coffee tastes like rubber; that the maker turns on magically--or won't turn on at all; that coffee grounds get everywhere, etc. I think the problem must be with the users themselves.

The first time I used this, I read the instructions beforehand, plugged it in, put my 2 tablespoons of coffee into the filter-- which is great I might add--filled my cup up with water, poured it in, added sugar and creamer to my cup, put the lid on, put it under the brewer, hit the switch, then had a steaming cup of wonderful coffee in seconds. I got to throw out my electronic mug warmer, too, since the coffee stays hotter longer.

This product is great for people on the go, for people who only drink a cup of coffee a day, and for people who don't like to spend an eternity cleaning up!

 "You Gotta Have IT!!!!!" 2005-08-18
By Mwaa (NY)

For 17 dollars, come on!!! That's like one plain shirt in Old Navy.

Here let me help you out if this coffee maker and you are compatible:

1. Do you drink alot of coffee? If yes then dont get this. Get the six-cup coffee maker. This is for people who drinks 1-2-3 cups a DAY. If you drink more than that it might frustrate you to constantly fill the compartment every now and then. But if you're patient enough to wait for less than a minute, then get it.

2. No need for those filters. Saves the environment and money.

3. Do you want a quickie clean-up? If yes, the get this. Just rinse with water and you're fine.

Hey guys, I read tons of reviews before buying this. I liked it because its light, portable, cleans easily, cheap and environmentally friendly (not to mention economically).

There are some negative in Amazon because they follwed the guidelines in the paper. Here's my precaustions to have a perfect cup:

1. Make sure you dont fill it all with water. Try making 3/4 cups, just to be in the safe side.

2. Use Starbucks ground coffee---it'll make you feel glad you're saving $4.

3. You can use another mug or coffee cup to suit your taste. I got a smiley face mug from the 99c store. Some reviews mentioned that the travel mug smells like rubber when they bought it. duh! that's because its new. All you have to do is wash it with dishwashing liquid. If that's too difficult, then dont buy the coffee maker.

All in all, Im satisfied with my purchase. This is my first coffee maker (I personally bought) and it sure is very cute and useful. Its super cheap--but the most important aspect of it---IT WORKS.

Dont expect like those heavy-weight and dramatic coffee makers. This belongs to a whole new genre. Definitely not your poshy restaurant/hotel coffee maker. Its just a simple plastic toy-like coffee maker that works.

I think I better go. Im at work and making this review?! What's wrong with me---I just like my Brew N Go
