Chapin 20000 1-Gallon Lawn and Garden Sprayer Review.

 "Good sprayer good price" 2007-02-22
By A. Smith (Arizona)

For the price I expected poor quality. I was wrong. This is as durable as the other ~1gal+ sprayers that exist. The tip adjusts the spray pattern. If you want a larger sprayer by all means get a larger one if you want a small one this is it.

 "So far so good" 2007-07-12
By Dee Bee (By the sea, Massachusetts)

Great little sprayer for the money. Pressurizes quickly and well.. spray strength is perfect and consistent. Spray pattern is easily adjustable to "fan" or "stream" or anything in between. One gallon of liquid sprays out in about 15- 20 minutes with constant use, on the "fan" setting. I had to re-pump it about every 5 minutes with constant use.. not too bad. I tried out the "stream" setting and it works well too. Wish it had a strap for carrying, but for the price, I'll carry one gallon around in my hand.

"get more for your money!" 2007-07-05
By All Access (dobbs ferry, new york)

I never used one before, my better half said many of the ones in stores lately have been crap, considering the price I thought this wouldn't work or break easily. IT WORKS, IT WORKS WELL, IT HAS BEEN USED OFTEN & IT STILL WORKS WELL! Morale of the story, sometimes you actually get what you pay for!!

 "Excellent" 2007-11-08
By John Miller (Maryland)

Although this sprayer is inexpensive, it is not "cheap". I am very happy with the quality and ease of use!!

"Fantastic product for the money" 2010-06-05
By P. K. Stone (Avon Lake, Ohio USA)

This proves why the Amazon reviews are so helpful. I would have been hesitant to order this at this price - fearing it would be cheap and easily broken. But this is one sturdy sprayer.

I had been using a one quart hand-held without the sprayer hose. I got tired of the constant refilling - 3 or 4 fills for each session of spraying. I have a big deer and rabbit problem in my gardens, so I spray A LOT of pepper spray and deer repellent.

The pump top locks down and doubles as the carrying handle. The sprayer hose is a perfect length and the adjustable spray makes it easy to get the coverage you need. This makes my spraying so much easier and faster.

At this price I can have one for each product I spray and keep a filled bottle of each handy in the garage.

Orbit 62001 Lawn and Garden Digital Watering Timer Review.

 "hose bib timer/valve" 2006-11-04
By MNS (Orinda, CA United States)

It is the best on the market and very reliable. It may cost more but is worth the price. It is very convenient being able to slide-out the timing mechanism, making any adjustment, and then reattaching. I do not like timers that do not have a clock or do not readily indicate a malfunction. This does it all.

 "Great product!" 2007-06-14
By M. East (Cottonwood, AZ)

These timers are great, very dependable even through our hot Arizona Summer! We usually put ours on in April or early May and they run on fresh batteries until we take them off in November. (don't let them freeze!)If it's true that this model has been discontinued, I think the company should reconsider.

 "Great product." 2008-05-12
By L. G OHara (Sedona, AZ USA)

I live in the high desert. In winter the temperatures reach 0 fh. This is the only hose timer that continues to work in cold temperatures. (Not designed for it, but it does work) I've tried so many other timers this is the only model that lasts. Great product I now have 5 of them.

"I am now the proud owner of three Orbit 62001 timers" 2009-08-13
By Book Lover (Illinois)

This timer uses 2 9v batteries. I just think people need to know that so they can have the correct batteries on hand when they get the timer. Hopefully Amazon.com will use my edit on their info page and add that information. :) It's like getting a new battery operated toy at Christmas and not having the correct batteries so you can play with it. NOT GOOD. The 9v batteries are very easy to install. Remove 2 phillips head screws on the back and pop the batteries in...NO SNAPS TO CONNECT. Very easy install.

I, again, had to replace 3 timers this year (seems to be a yearly occurrence) and after purchasing a cheap, poorly made Gilmore timer I decided to try the Orbit. I purchased my first one in the Spring and it has worked very well all season. Since it continued to do its job, a few months ago I purchased a second one and today I received my third one.

The timer is a no brainer as far as programming it goes. It's very simple and the basics are on the lid that covers the program panel. It does come with a book with more indepth instructions though. You can program it to water Monday-Sunday.....choosing any particular days you wish to water. Or you can choose every 2 days or every 3 days to water. It has the capability to water 4 times a day if you so choose. You can water manually by pushing the manual button and setting a length of time to water at that time and then it shuts off automatically and goes back to "auto run" which is your programmed settings. You can cancel a watering for 24 hours by hitting the "clear" button. After that, it goes back to "auto run". You can stop the watering indefinitely by pushing the "off" button which cancels the "auto run", but that will not cancel out your programmed settings. To use your programmed settings again, just hit "auto run" and you're good to go. The timer seems to be sturdy and reliable. *knock on wood* The timer I purchased this Spring is still using the original 9v batteries too and I water every morning.

So far, I love this timer. IF it should fail next season, I will update my review. I use to be able to buy a timer and use it for years and years, but in recent years it seems I can only get one summer out of them...if I'm lucky. I always bring my timers in the house for the winter and remove the batteries before storing them, but the last 4 timers (before the Orbits) I bought all died after one season of use. A Gilmore piece of junk I bought this Spring lasted only weeks and wouldn't shut off.

I can recommend this timer, highly, with the caveat....I've only had mine for one Spring and Summer. Only time will tell if it lasts for years. I can only hope. If it fails to work next Spring, I will let you know.

 "Reliable and solid" 2009-07-01
By Robert Martin (Atlanta, GA)

I've owned this product for about two months now.

PROS:

* Built like a brick - very solid

* Reliable - does what it's supposed to do

* Easy to program - the digital interface is nice

* Brass faucet connector - much better than plastic

* Removable timer - You can program the unit remotely without unplugging the hose

* Solid mechanics - uses a solenoid to turn water on and off - simple and low power consumption.

* Several modes - you can pick which days of the week to water on, or you can pick an "every 2" or "every 3" day mode

* Manual mode - lets you easily set the device to manually water for a certain number of minutes

CONS:

* Uses two 9V batteries. Kind of expensive. Hope it doesn't eat through these

* Plastic hose connector - kind of cheap. Wish it was brass. Plan to add a brass nipple.

* No rain detector - it will water even on rainy days

Overall, this is a very solid product and I expect it to last for a long time. Because it's digital and uses very simple moving parts (a solenoid), it should last a very long time. The batteries should last for a long time for the same reasons. For the money, I think this is a best buy.

 "EVERY SETTING WORKS--HOW WONDERFUL!" 2009-06-20
By Penny (Plano, Texas)

I concur with another reviewer: This is the BEST ever. The mist, to use but one example, is actually a mist--perfect for my tiny rootings and seeds. Even though it's plastic, it feels substantial in the hand. At this price, too, how can I go wrong even if it only lasts a few seasons?

 "Preferred over others" 2009-08-13
By C. G. King (Horse Country, VA USA)

This nozzle really fits the bill with good spray patterns that work well, good water pressure and good ease of use. Because it's plastic, I'll have to take it in for the winter lest it leak next season, but so far it doesn't leak at all. Each of the patterns is distinct in its function and useful and something about the design allows great water pressure where you need it even if you have a well and lower pressure overall, as I do.

The gentle shower pattern, a favorite for me, works really nicely with a nice overall spray and decent enough pressure to water the back of my 8' deep garden as effectively as the front. The jet is great. The pattern ring doesn't turn quite as easily as my Toro nozzle, nor is the trigger quite as easy to squeeze, but both are quite doable even with arthritis in my hands and the lock is easy to flip into place so you don't have to squeeze the trigger for long periods. The patterns are so much more effective than the more expensive red and silver Toro, I'm definitely replacing others with this one when needed. I'll leave the Toro on in the winter, because if it cracks and leaks, I won't really care. This is a great nozzle that meets a lot of needs from vegetable gardens to potted plants.

"Best Hose Sprayer I have ever used" 2009-05-19
By Justin

I got this in conjunction with a new platinum hose that is silver on amazon. Make sure you check that out also because it's amazing. I hooked this up with my new hose, and I found not one little speck of water running from it when it was attached. I was so shocked because I have never used a hose sprayer where it didn't leak at least a little. After my jaw dropped 10 inches I used this to water the ant seeds I just surrounded the house with. I used the shower setting and it is awesome for watering plants and the ground. I've tried all the other settings and they were very cool, too. Definately get this for the price it is listed at!

 "Great product value" 2008-08-08
By N. Macleod (Rockaway Beach, NY)

This is exactly what I was looking for. Ease of use, great variety of settings, and my kids and I love the Mist setting to cool ourselves off. It completely suits all of my garden watering needs.

 "Nice Product" 2010-04-19

Very nice hose nozzle. Nicely made- all patterns work as described.

I can go from watering the new grass to washing the car in seconds.

Very good quality.

EasyBloom 1000 Plant Sensor Review.

"Save Your Plants - Make The Right Decisions!" 2008-11-29
By Martin A Hogan (San Francisco, CA. (Hercules))

I'm a landscape architect specializing in design, construction and planning. I am not an expert in plant materials like a botanist. The `easy Bloom' was a real eye opener for me. It has a library of thousands of plants with detailed descriptions of anything a botanist or ordinary `garden-variety' gardener would want to know. It is virtually an on-line encyclopedia and more expansive than the Western Garden Book.

Some of the options were: Plant recommendations, Environmental Conditions, Edit (later info) and Notes (personal). Searching for a certain plant, you can choose: Bloom Color, Bloom Season, Foliage, Characteristics, Special features, Height, Plant Type, Shape/Form and Soil Type.

There are SO MANY options. I decided to try it on indoor and outdoor plants, but finally decided to share just one problem spot I have. On my deck I have a large potted barrel about two feet high by three feet in diameter with good loamy soil. Oddly, nothing seems to really do well there. So I planted the `easy Bloom' in the dirt for 24 hours. Then I placed the USB stick into my computer and was asked to refine my plant choices by: Bloom Color, Bloom Season, Foliage characteristics, Special features, Height, Plant Type, Shape/Form and Soil Type.

I picked through all the options of what I wanted and within a few seconds, the `best' plants choices for my barrel were for:

Height: fern (American Maidenhair), Hyacinth, Tulip, Carpet Bugle, Lily, Coleus.

Bloom (of nine colors I chose red): Coleus, Tulip, Geranium.

Environmental Conditions told me for that 24 hour period: Average temp was (51-55 degrees) with mostly midday sun and moderate to fairly high humidity.

The final plant choices for my outside deck barrel for all options were: Coleus, Geranium and Friendship Plant. Now that I know what will look best year round for my barrel, I can just move to each pot, garden area or indoor pot and get several great choices.

Next I plan on choosing why my indoor `Climbing Onion' that is going through dormancy, will need to survive and thrive. I'll be ready for the spring!

I have never seen a plant monitor like this that is so extensive or thorough with thousands of plants and analysis. This is a must for any serious gardener - especially those who think they know it all (and I know quite a few of those). Just be prepared - after owning one of these, they WILL know it all!

"A greenthumb for all of us!" 2008-10-28
By Ryan Aelish (San Francisco, CA)

I can't tell you how embarrassing it is to be given a houseplant as a gift and watch it die right when your friend makes his way back for a visit. Not fun. The easybloom plant sensor is really easy to use right out of the box (just plug it into your usb port on you pc, install the software, and create an easybloom user account - all within 5 minutes). I used it in water mode first to check my potted plants, and it promptly beeped at me telling me I needed to water some plants. Now I'm using it in monitor mode which should give me feedback on my poor freesia to figure out what's wrong with it. I think the sensor works well with the easybloom.com website and I'm excited to get this sensor to work in my garden!

 "Finally!" 2008-10-27
By D. Gasiorek (San Francisco, CA United States)

Finally someone invented this product! I cannot tell you how many plants I have killed in my lifetime. I never know if they die because I watered them too much, too little, or if it wasn't getting enough light, etc. Now there is actually a device that can tell me the answer! Thank you thank you. No more throwing dead plants and $$ down the drain. Love it!

 "Very useful product" 2008-10-28
By Matt Barletta (Campbell, CA)

I have found this product very easy to get started with and get useful data about my yard. I've got a lot of shade in the front and too much sun in the back all on top of California clay. Life has been a "hit or miss" set of plant experiments.

This product is now shedding some light on what works where and why. This is very useful and I will be shifting my strategy going into the spring for sure.

Very cool stuff.

 "Finally..." 2008-10-31
By Gregory Barbee (Los Angeles, CA)

I was eager to see this product when I came across related news about a month ago, and I must say, I have not been disappointed. What an easy to use, intuitive gift this product is -- finally, I'm not playing hit or miss with my backyard and garden. Works great, and gives cogent advice for those of us who weren't born with what seems like the mystical ability to make plants grow. Thanks. Rest assured, several of my extended family will be receiving this for a (much welcome) holiday gift.

AeroGrow AeroGarden with Gourmet Herb Seed Kit, Black Review.

"Works as Advertised - Classy Product" 2006-11-28
By P. Schmidt (Chicago, Illinois USA)

see update at end of review

******************

I was lamenting about only having frech lettuce, herbs, chives, and tomatoes from may garden during the long fall-winter-spring parts of the year. The refrigerated stuff from the grocery store goes bad right away and does not taste as good as the fresh stuff from the garden, either.

Then I saw a Time Magazine page on the new AeroGrow AeroGarden, and I just had to try it out. After reading the AeroGrow website before making the purchase, I realized that buying one garden would not work for me, as the tomatoes cannot be grown in the same garden as lettuce & herbs. This is partially due to the large amount of room taken up by the tomatoes, and also because the lamp/watering cycle is different and finally because the nutrients are different.

So, I bought two gardens, along with the Salad Greens seed kit and Cherry Tomato seed kit. Each garden comes with a mixed herb kit, so I figured to mix in a few herbs with the other seeds, and if they did not work, no big loss.

The products came quickly and the instructions for assembly were very clear and well written with excellent diagrams. I came to realize that this somewhat pricey product at least comes from a company that produces a classy product (a rare thing these days). I found a space on a shelf beside the basement stairs, and placed both assembled gardens there. I also bought and placed a digital thermometer with maximum/minimum temperature memory readouts ($10 at Radio Shack), because I was unsure of what temperature extremes the plants might experience in that location (68-72 as it turns out).

The seed kits contain pre-seeded planting pods. Each pod is basically a plastic cup shaped frame with two pieces of foam rubber inside the cup part, like two slices of bread with the seeds sandwiched between them. They simply insert into the seven holes in the top of the garden's water tank. The Salad Greens and Herbs come with seven pods per kit, while the Tomatos come with three pods plus four hole plugs-the plants are bigger so three of them take up thw whole space available. The hole plugs prevent evaporation of the water through the unoccupied holes.

The water tank holds exactly one gallon of regular drinking water. Well water is not recommended, presumably because of impurities, and since I am on a well I bought two one-gallon plastic jugs of 'drinking water' at the store for 50 cents each and filled the tanks with their contents. A pump in the tank takes water and pipes it to the rim of each of the seven holes in the tank's top, and here the trickle of water flows into the foam sandwich of each seed pod. The foam stays moist and the rest of the water drips back down into the tank. The garden's 'computer' cycles the water flow on and off according to the amount recommended for the type of plant being grown. A water level sensor turns on a flashing red light when it is time to add more water to the tank.

The top of the garden is a reflector with two compact-fluorescent lamps, of the variety that has the special ultraviolet (UV) coating that causes the emmitted light to resemble sunlight. The reflector rides on a vertical pole that extends up from the garden's base, so you can raise and lower the lamps as required to keep them the correct distance above the plants. The garden's 'computer' also turns the lamps on and off according to a schedule tailored to the type of plant. If using the gardens in a place where the light might be a problem at night, you can syncronize the computer so that the lights are on only during the daytime and off when you are trying to sleep.

The seed kits come with little clear plastic cups that cover each pod until the seeds have germinated, then you can dispose of them. The kits also come with a bag of nutrient tablets, which you add to the water tank when the computer prompts you to by flashing a red light. The nutrients are tailored to the type of plant being grown, and there are enough of them to feed the plants during their anticipated life span.

I planted one garden with five salad green (leaf lettuce) pods, plus one pod each from the Herb kit, chives and parsley. The other garden got the threee pods from the Cherry Tomato kit; two reds and one yellow variety.

Each seed pod has a label that tells you how many days to wait for plants to appear after germination. All of my plants appeared like clockwork.

I have had the gardens for about six weeks now, and have been enjoying salads containing lettuce, parsley and chives plus other odds and ends from the fridge, for the last two or three weeks. The lettuce and herbs are all beautiful, with no problems from bugs or too much/too little water, excessive temperatures, etc. No need to wash the plants or check for bugs or pick off bad spots, everything goes straight to the salad bowl. What a joy! Even with only five lettuce plants, I have to eat two meals including salad each day to keep up with the growth. This would easily feed two people, and if all seven salad green pods had been used, three people.

The tomatoes are all doing well ahnd have been pruned according to instructions. It will be some time yet before they produce flowers, and then fruit. But based on the health of the plants, I expect a good yield.

Each seed kit comes with a full color manual/booklet that covers all aspects of 'planting', germinating, feeding, pruning (if required) and then harvesting the plants. There are also photos of plants where things have gone wrong (leaves burned because the lamps were not raised up as the plants grew taller, etc) with clear instructions on how to recognize problems and correct them. Harvesting instructions clearly tell how much can be taken at a time without killing the plant, and so on.

The AeroGrow gardens are a well designed, well built product with excellent documentation. All my visitors are amazed at how well the product works, and many have gone out and bought their own. I anticipate years of improved eating because of this product.

Update November 2007

I used my two gardens all Winter (2006/2007) until it was time to start getting produce from my real (outdoor) garden in the Summer, at which time I put the little gardens to rest for the season. During their use, I got a large crop of cherry tomatoes, all of which were beautiful. I went through on crop of lettuce and salad greens, and when the lettuce finally bolted, I replanted with only lettuce (no chives, etc this time) and got another couple of months worth of lettuce. I have now fired them up again in the Fall, and have nice little plants popping up. Aerogrow has more seed options available now, so I have planted a more interesting kind of lettuce.

"Why Didn't Someone Think of This Sooner??!!" 2006-07-06
By NuJoi (Chicago, IL United States)

I love this product -- no dirt, no bugs and no chance of over-watering! This is very easy to assemble and easy to use. Just add water and a couple of nutrient tablets every two weeks. There's even a light that tells you when you need to do this.

I planted my Gourmet Herbs on June 15 and I was ready to harvest the basil before the fourth of July! If you follow the instructions, there's no way to mess this up. The herbs lasted about six months. My only caution is (and this is noted in the instruction booklet) that the lamps are on about 16 hours a day and they are bright at night. I can close off the bedrooms, so it doesn't bother me.

I highly recommend this product to anyone one who has tried to grow herbs indoors in the past. Aerogarden's customer service team is the best -- they know their stuff and are vary helpful. I had a problem with one of the herb kits and they have really worked to fix the problem.

Update: I read another reviewer's note about installing a new pump. I had a seed pod that never sprouted and after being shipped a replacement pod that also didn't work, Aerogarden sent me a new pump. I installed it last night with a new kit. The instructions were clear and it was pretty easy to do. I liked doing it myself in five minutes instead of sending the unit somewhere to be repaired. It still was an inconvenience, but my positive experiences with the product far outweigh the annoyance of the installation.

Update:

My first kit was the gourmet herb and as noted above, I had problems with the cilantro. I have since replanted my garden by mixing the French, Itallian and new Gourmet Herb kits and they've worked beautifully, especially the cilantro. The new pump has made all the difference. My oregano is even more hearty this time around. With the mew pump, all of my herbs are doing better. After almost two months of growth, the thyme appears to be the least robust of the bunch, but still has a good yield. It's in a back corner spot.

"Little Rainforest in my Kitchen" 2007-04-13
By Susan Avallon (Los Angeles, CA USA)

Well, I have five of these gardens now, so obviously this is a product I've been very happy with. I started out with tomatoes and salad greens, and the salad greens were so tasty I added a second garden of those and two strawberry gardens (the second one is on order).

I have had no trouble with the pumps or noise, and everything has grown beautifully. With five gardens going at once, it's so bright in that area of my kitchen that it looks like a UFO landing site, LOL, but they are all scheduled to go off at 11 p.m. so it's no problem at night when we're sleeping.

These gardens are so cheerful to have around. They add a nice moisture and a green, fresh smell, and I find the lights cheerful too.

The salad greens grow very quickly and are so tasty that my biggest problem is resisting the urge to constantly pluck off leaves and eat them all day long. That's why I got a second one -- so there would be plenty. With four in my family, one garden did not produce quite enough for us. Our first salad crop also did not grow for very long, only a couple of months, but I think that's just the nature of the plant. The tomatoes took a long time to go to the fruiting stage (13 weeks), but now they are producing two or three ripe tomatoes each day, and they are delicious.

I love having food growing indoors. No bugs, no bird poop, no dirt, and everything can be eaten right off the plant. Tonight over dinner we literally watched our first strawberry turn from white to pink on the end.

No, this is not a particularly economical way to grow food, but it's loads of fun and has been educational and exciting for my kids, who are much more interested in fresh produce than they used to be.

I've had no trouble with either the pumps or the customer service. In fact, everyone at Aerogrow has been very kind and helpful, both over the phone and in e-mail. I hope the company continues to thrive because I just love these little gardens and hope to use them for years.

"Cool gadget - one caveat" 2006-10-10
By Jan Klier (Seattle, WA USA)

This is one of these more useful kitchen gadgets. Every time I need fresh herbs for a recipe, I end up buying one of those expensive packs, use one or two twigs, and end up tossing the rest, and everytime it irks me. So this looks like it solves that problem, and do so without becoming this huge time sink that a full-blown herb garden would do.

One can argue that for $149 for the unit, and $20 for extra seed kits, I can buy a lot of herb packs at the grocery store before breaking even. True, but it makes it less painful to use fresh herbs or garnish your dish with a single salad leaf.

The one caveat I would put on it: you can't really mix and match the seed kits. The settings on the unit, and the nutrient tablets are optimized for each seed type. First I thought, I'd use 2-3 salad pods, a few of the herbs, some basil, and then some fresh tomatoes in the two units I bought. Well, that doesn't work (or at least I don't know what the results would be - but it's clear from the package that the nutrient tablets have different ingredients, and the water pump runs all the time for salad, when it only cycles on/off for other seeds). So I'd have to get 4 of those - that's a lot of money and a lot of space in the kitchen. So I guess I'll sequence which seeds I grow every 6 months and stay with 2.

The base unit always comes with the salad green seeds. Looks like they're the ones sprouting the fastes (within 2-3 days) - they must be hedging their bet against impatient and skeptical customers.

"Grow herbs, flowers & fruit in the worst environment" 2006-06-12
By Stephen Hayden (Landover, MD United States)

This device waters your plants and turns the lights on and off based on the setting. Add the nutrient plan and you have some of the fastest growing plants out there. It comes with a seed kit, but I couldn't tell which one is included. Probably Salad (the fastest growing, 3-4 weeks!) or Gormet Herbs (the most popular). Here are some of the specs:

It takes a standard plug, instead of a 3 prong, so it can plug in anywhere instead of just the kitchen. The bowl holds 14 cups of water. That's one pint shy of a gallon. The light goes on for 15 1/2 hours to 17 hours depending on the plant, and the water goes over the roots & sponge for the lights on time or longer for thirsty plants. You have to hand polinate (a rapid 10 second wave in each plant) the tomatoes & peppers every other day when flowering, and the Peppers & International basil require you wash out the bowls every 4 weeks, but otherwise there is very little maintenance. The light comes on when the water is low and another light comes on when the 2 weeks are up and the plants need more nutrients, but other than that you can pretty much forget it. The lights also work to help my potted plants grow when near it. The plants like human comfortable temperatures (61-80 F) but the peppers & tomatoes will produce more fruit if safely over 70.

The nutrients are different for each plant (I have a breakdown on my dinubabear site) and come in 2 to 4 sets in a kit (Starting, sprouting, normal & fruiting). You give 2 nutrient tablets every 2 weeks.

Aerogrow guarentees their kits to sprout as described, or you can call them & they will replace their kits.

New kits will be available in September, such as French, Italian & Japanese herbs.

 "LOVE IT!" 2009-01-12
By LAC (Utah)

I bought this for my mom for Christmas and she has had so much fun with it. It's pretty much idiot proof it beeps and a light comes on when it needs water, fertilizer etc. The light for it turns on automatically for 17 hours and then turns itself off for six. They also started to come up within three days of starting them. Very happy with it!

 "Works like a charm!" 2009-02-08
By Saumil (San Jose, CA USA)

I bought the Aerogarden 3 as a gift for my wife last month. It is really easy to set up, and all 3 herbs have grown beautifully. We have already harvested and cooked with them a couple of times, and they're still growing.

The chives are a little sparse, but that's not going to stop me from giving this product 5 stars!

I love AeroGardens. I have not yet connected this one, but have another that I use all winter. I especially love them in the winter when I can have fresh lettuce, herbs or other vegetables or flowers ALL WINTER LONG!

I usually give it a rest in the summer, when my outdoor garden is ready, but I do love the convenience of the AeroGarden! I highly recommend it!

I got this herb garden as a Christmas present for my sister in law. Imagine my surprise when in small lettering on the bottom it said that the seeds enclosed were not for the italian herbs shown on box.....Oh well. She loved it any way and it did ship quickly!!!!

This is super cute and looks very functionable. Great for a housewarming gift or small apt window sill. About 4" by 4" with slots for herbs.

Fiskars 9921 Softouch Micro-Tip Pruning Snip

Fiskars 9921 Softouch Micro-Tip Pruning Snip Review.

 "Light, Comfortable, Affordable" 2002-04-04
By Mimi (California)

When my sister gave me these snippers, my first reaction was that they were too lightweight to be useful. Was I wrong! I grow a lot of roses, and this tool has become invaluable for deadheading. It's also great for cutting daffodils, tulips and narcissus for floral arrangements. It's light enough for me to carry whenever I walk around the garden. Don't be tempted to cut any woody stems; it's strictly designed for deadheading and pliable green stems.

 "Durable yet light" 2005-09-07
By B. Hoff-Buck (Colorado)

This is the 2nd pair I've owned and these little snips last. The first pair lasted 5 years and are still in use. They're used daily at the garden center where I work and are the favorite tool of all my co-workers. The snips are durable enough to trim everything from bedding plants to hanging baskets to shrubs (butterfly bushes) yet light and responsive enough to be easily handled by those of us with joint problems. The Fiskars small size makes it easy to trim out even the most densely overgrown plants and make deadheading Petunias a breeze. I've tried other snips by various manufacturers and none have worked as well as these. The others have been too bulky, too heavy, too large for delicate trims and/or too tight in the hinge to be used comfortably. Over all the Fiskars Micro-snips are the perfect tool to clean up both houseplants and garden beds.

"I have stopped deadheading with my fingers!" 2000-06-16
By

I love my micro tip, and I use it every day for deadheading and cutting flowers. I used to deadhead my flowers with my fingers, and get green stuff under my fingernails (ugh!). I was right when I thought this would fill a void in my garden tool collection. The tip is very sharp, and it is very comfortable. It has an easy to use lock, which is handy to have around children.

"perfect for small or delicate tasks" 2006-10-01
By Reader (U. S. A.)

Some other reviewers have complained that this tool is not good enough for certain jobs, but from their descriptions, it just goes to show that you need to use the right tool for the right job. For cutting wire or pruning boughs, one would not use these snips (though I would heartily recommend the Fiskars lopper for the latter). I am constantly reaching for these snips, however, when deadheading, pruning tender plants, and taking cuttings for propagation. I want something sharp, precise, and handy for those tasks, and secateurs or pruning shears would either be too cumbersome or would not have the cutting action required. Well worth having, in this gardener's opinion.

Noodlehead N111C Flexible Lawn & Garden Sprinkler Review.

 "Unique Problem Solver" 2007-07-14
By Platteach (Plattsmouth, NE USA)

This sprinkler has solved a problem I've had for years - how to water the narrow strip next to the driveway. I can now water small oddly shaped areas without wasting water.

"The sprinkler for all places" 2007-03-18
By Marilyn E. Schneck (Berkeley,CA)

This little sprinkler is amazing. Individually point the 12 sprayers to cover exactly the area you want. Aim more than 1 at an area needing more water. Saves water by not watering walkways etc. I love it.

 "Noodlehead sprinkler" 2008-06-09
By Marilynn C. Roberts (Central Florida)

I found the Noodlehead sprinkler to be as advertised. I have been able to use it to water smaller areas on my lawn and direct the water flow to where I wanted it. After several adjustments I am watering just the lawn and not the driveway or road. I would recommend this product.

 "Very Satisfied" 2008-09-09
By Mehitobel Sars (Diamondhead, MS)

I am very satisfied with this product. The noodles help me to direct the water where I want it to go and serves my need perfectly. I would buy this product again if I needed one. I also received the product quickly and had no trouble setting it up.Noodlehead Flexible Lawn & Garden Sprinkler #N111C

 "My mom loved it!" 2009-01-12

I ordered this for my mother for Christmas and she loved it. It was well made and is great for anyone who enjoys gardening. Tools were also of a surprisingly high quality.

It's an excellent product for gardening and it's very handy, all you need is in one kit !

 "All in one" 2008-06-07
By Mio (Panther Valley, NJ United States)

I was looking for a gardening toolkit. Initially, I thought to only get a tote knowing I would also need a bench or something. When I came across this product it was the perfect fit. Most of the tools that I needed, plus a tote and a bench. I've used it already and used my tote to temporarily store leftover soil. Best thing, I can fold it and hang all of it on the garage wall.

Step2 5A0100 Garden Kneeler

Step2 5A0100 Garden Kneeler Review.

 "step2 garden kneeler seat" 2000-10-14
By

I bought this last Christmas for my In-laws.......they love it. They are avid gardners and my Father-in-law had trouble getting up and found the handle great for supporting him when getting up. My Mother-in-law loved the cushion for her knees, she said it was just perfect and the height was wonderful. So this year I will be purchasing two more for other gardners in our family!

"great for big people, too" 2003-08-17
By

Because of bad knees and because she is a larger lady, my mom has trouble getting up when she is doing weeding. I was concerned that the kneeler might not be wide enough for her to kneel on, but she said that it's really great and that she's very pleased with it. She said that it will be great for doing floor cleaning, too. I definitely recommend it, especially for people who have trouble getting up from being on their knees working on things.

 "great gardener's gift" 2005-10-02
By M. B. Walters (Round Mountain, NV USA)

I purchased this one for my Mom after she admired the one I had bought for my husband a couple of years ago. She loves it! I've checked out a couple of other models and they don't have the overall durability that this one has. For the record, my husband has rarely used the one I bought for him, but I use it a lot. I kneel in the garden with it to protect my knees while planting seeds. I use the legs/side bars to push myself up after a long bout of pulling weeds and salt grass. I use it as a stool to step up to water my hanging plants, sit on it to groom the dog, and a variety of other outdoor tasks. The foam pad has blown around the yard several times and no longer stays stuck on the bottom side of the stool but it hasn't gotten hard or crumbled in our Nevada desert sun. Our seat is always outside in the elements and has held up very well. I recommend it as a very thoughtful gift for the gardener of any age on your gift list.

 "Wonderful Product!" 2003-01-12
By Caleb's Granny (Perrysburg, OH United States)

This is a wonderful item! I had a terrible time bending down to work in my garden, and this is a life-saver! I'm back to doing my yard work! I purchased this thru the goldbox offer, but would have paid full price anyway!

My garden kneeler really adds to my joy in gardening! It is quite light, easy to tote along; impervious to being neglected out in the rain; simple and wonderful.
