Yard Butler HCF-3 Free Standing Garden Hose Hanger with Faucet Review.
"Love this...." 2008-04-29
By Deborah K. Dobbins (Indianapolis, IN)
This is well construced and sturdy. I love this hose hanger-faucet combo but you can get them at any hardware store for $14.
$31.99 is ridiculous.
"Perfect Hose Hanger" 2008-12-06
By B. Cook (Wellington, FL)
I needed a hose hanger that would blend well with my garden area and this worked perfect. Installation was easy, no leaks, and very sturdy. It arrived in a hugh box so be prepared for that.
"Great item! Very Handy." 2010-07-12
By Bradford H. Turnow (Long Island, NY)
Great item. Make sure to use one bag of $5 30-minute quick dry cement to hold it in place. Dig the hole, add the cement mix, and place the holder in place and level. 30 minutes later you are done! Love it and love having the on/off handle. Great buy!
"Great time saver" 2010-07-23
By Elaine (Galt, CA United States)
This hose extender is what I've been looking for! I didn't even know it! Such a time saver, no more dragging the hose across the entire yard and then rolling it back up, YEAH!! Highly recommended for those with a large yard and only one faucet.
"Good product, bad knob" 2008-09-03
By The Analyst (NYC, NY)
Solidly built and great for adding a faucet to another yard location without hiring a contactor. The only thing I didn't like is the tiny faucet knob. Why couldn't they put in a better knob?

Chapin 20020 SureSpray 2-Gallon Sprayer Review.
"This 2 gallon model is best, even for small fluid volume" 2010-01-08
By FlyingPolarBear (Fullerton, CA USA)
Nicely constructed! You may be trying to decide between the 1 gallon model and this 2 gallon model. The benefit of the larger model is that, for example, if you only have 1 gallon of liquid inside, there is still 1 gallon of air pocket left over that you can compress for more spraying power. If you buy the 1 gallon model and you fill it completely, then there is very little air inside that you can compress initially. This is the perfect size for easy carrying around the garden, just fill it half way with liquid and the leftover volume is a larger air spring.
"light sturdy sprayer" 2008-05-18
By Jennie J. Murrah (Trussville, AL United States)
I love this sprayer. I bought two, one for organic pesticides and one for algae/fish imulsion. My plants and I are very happy
"Simple sprayer works fine" 2010-02-02
By Mary N. (Boone, NC)
I bought this to apply "Wet & Forget" onto my deck. The sprayer works well. The printing (instructions) on the side are impossible to read because it is white on white. But the pamphlet tells you all you need to know. Just use a marking pen to mark on the side where the fill lines are. So far, the "Wet & Forget" hasn't seemed to work - but they say it can take months to see any results, but this sprayer got it applied easily.
"No clog feature really works" 2010-05-14
By Bruce E. Balfe (Valparaiso, IN USA)
I bought this because other sprayers I have tried always clog constantly and require nozzle cleaning numerous times during use. This has a screen on the end of the feed tube and it really seems to keep the nozzle from clogging. I recommend it.
"great tool and great customer service" 2010-05-27
By L. Myers
I used it last season, it worked great. I pulled it out of the shed this spring and realized that the lever is missing. So I cannot squeeze and spray the liquid. I searched and searched, have no idea how it would dis-connect and where it would go. Called the Chapin customer service and without any question the lady just took my name and address and said it will be in the mail. No charge. Nice!

Gilmour 10-34100 10 Series 3/4-Inch-by-100-Foot 8-Ply Flexogen Hose, Green Review.
"About the best you can get" 2007-12-18
By J. White
I have a small farm and use lots of hoses. Of all I've tried, Gilmour hoses have been the best by far. They have superior, solid fittings; resist kinking the best (of hoses not specifically designed to avoid kinking); and have remained the most pliable with weathering. Best of all is Gilmour's lifetime warranty: should the hose ever fail to perform, just cut off the ends and send them to Gilmour and they'll send you a new hose. I've done this a couple times with no hassle. Other hoses want you to have saved the receipt, original packaging, etc. Who does that?
This really is "the last hose you'll ever buy."
"Best Garden Hose on the Market" 2005-08-23
By Peter T. Szymonik (Manchester, CT USA)
This is easily the best garden hose I've ever owned. Very flexible but strong, almost never kinks, I can see getting years of use out of this one. Also note that Amazon's pricing is about $30-40 less than you'll see in many catalogs carrying the same hose.
"Really strong beefy hose" 2007-07-06
By P. Worden
First, I am always amazed at Amazon's shipping speed. Lightning quick...always. I purchased the 100 foot hose because of the size of our yard. Usually I hook up more than one to reach to the end. This Gilmour hose is outstanding. I have been using it every day for a month now and the 3/4 inch diameter makes the water flow. Moving the hose around so much all around my yard, usually they get kinked and worse. This hose just does not kink. I will get another one, or two for the back yard next year. The only drawback personally for me is of course the price, but as the old saying goes, 'you get what you pay for'. I got a really nice hose.
"It is the last hose I'll buy" 2009-09-04
By D. Teschler
I purchased my first Gilmour hose 12-13 years ago and it sprung a leak in about 5-6 years cut off both ends sent them in and they sent back I new hose---no questions--no receipt. I just sent the ends of that replacement hose to them because it also started to leak 5-6years later and within a week was shipped a new hose. Anyone that does not give this product and company 5 stars just doesn't understand value. This is the last hose I'll ever have to pay for I wish all my investments were this sound!
"Gilmour Flexogen 3/4" Review" 2006-08-07
By Monarch
I previously purchased a Gilmour Flexogen hose (at a Retail store years ago) and loved it. I wanted one in a 3/4" but couldn't find it anywhere until I logged onto Amazon. I purchased the 3/4" X 100 and it arrived quickly, in good condition. I've used it now for weeks and I'm very pleased with it. The free shipping was great! Not only did I receive a good price on the hose, I didn't have to pay to have it shipped, and the shipping didn't seem to take any longer than had I paid for it, so I feel like an all-around winner on this deal!

"Perfect hostess gift!" 2009-05-20
By C. T. Kerrigan (Humid Florida)
These are the perfect hostess gift to show that you care! Elegant and inexpensive - more thoughful than bringing a bottle of wine!
"So Cute and useful." 2010-02-14
By crockerrl (Maine, USA)
These are perfect for serving small amounts of dipping sauces, individual cheese or pickle portions, etc. They are great for portion control! I like the fact that these can separate those foods like juicy pickles. I have always been fussy about the juicy pickles contaminating other things on my plate. Now I can control them! I definately will purchase more of these as they are well made and very pretty.
"nice" 2010-07-02
By U. Shin (Centreville, VA USA)
it's nice and pretty for everyday use for what I paid.
It does not matter whether it's made in China or not.
Prints are not as clear as my other botanic gardens 'made in Eng.' though.....
"Small and not original" 2009-09-10
By J. Lee (California)
I was really excited before I get it. I ordered 2 sets, and I was expecting it should be great with my previous items. However, they are not original - it came from China. I was little disappointed, also the size was too small than I imagine. It looks tiny source ball.

Birdscapes® 367 Tulip Garden Latern Feeder, 5 lb capacity Review.
"Great bird feeder" 2008-03-09
By Lisa Macconnell
This is a great bird feeder. It is large enough to hold 5lbs. of feed, but not so big it bends the tree branch down. It is a very nice feeder and is made of high quality material. I am very happy with this feeder and so are the birds.
"Perfect" 2009-01-11
By Unobtainium (Ann Arbor, MI)
Its been a few months and no squirrels yet, birds love it--everything from song birds to woodpeckers.
"A beautiful birdfeeder" 2009-04-13
By T. Hoyt (Pennsylvania)
I just received my birdfeeder and was thrilled with it. It's not only a beautiful piece but a sturdy one, as well. With our changing seasons and brutal winters, I have no doubt that this feeder will last where other plastic feeders have failed.
"best and most indestructible bird feeder" 2009-07-07
By CharLee Brown (fort mill, sc)
I replaced a plastic bird feeder with this copper bird feeder. On the first day my smart squirrel figured out how to lift the lid (don't ask me how the squirrel figured this one out) and get the seed out. I have had this feeder for about 2 months now, no more "breaking and entering" by the squirrel(s) and I love it! Worth the money if you plan on long time devotion to feeding our feathered friends.
"tulip garden bird feeder" 2010-02-17
By Amy B. Gwinn
This is a beautiful bird feeder that is easy to fill, & is well made. The only thing I would change about it would be to make the metal rope that it hangs from adjustable in length (perhaps it is adjustable & I just haven't figured it out yet!) Great product at a great price.

The Rumford Gardener JBI2000 Gardener's Kneeler/Seat Review.
"One of the handiest things around for bad knees and backs." 2007-11-04
By Katy Lake (The People's Republic of New Jersey)
Just about everybody over the age of thirty has some kind of issue with knee and/or back pain, esp. when you want to do seasonal clean-ups inside or out.
I was kind of flabbergasted when I was on my hands and knees, cleaning the bathroom floor, and my knees...hurt!...just from kneeling on the tile. I bought this device to help with that chore, and it's a lifesaver. It's made for outdoor use (and it's one of the sturdiest things I've ever bought), but for me it's been wonderful for indoor cleaning.
The reviews here are excellent, so I don't want to reinvent that wheel. There are just two things I'd add from my own observations; that is, things you might not know until you actually order and get this kneeler.
First of all, the yellow pad is on both sides, it's not just padded one one side. Now as it's show in this picture, it's something to sit on. If you burn it upside down so the yellow pads are a few inches off the floor, behold! It's a kneeler! The metal "arms" that become long when you flip it over are extremely sturdy. If you have problems working on the floor and getting up, they'll hold your weight easily and make getting off the floor a breeze (you don't even have to be kneeling ON it to use it as a sturdy prop to stand up.)
The other thing is that the device is folded up when you get it. To use it, you just open one "leg," then the other. Some folks seem to have problems folding it back up (very easy to store.) To do this, look for the springs on each side. There is a metal bar that runs perpendicular to the springs. Grasp the bar AND the spring section and squeeze. It's very resilient. You don't have to force the two bars together, but just enough to loosen the knobs that click into place when you open the device. When you squeeze (and yes, it's a bit hard if you're a woman), push the arm down, and one half is folded. Do the same with the other side, and you're done. (To open it, just open each arm. It locks into place with no effort.)
You don't have to be an AARP member to find this device to be incredibly useful. I bought two: one for indoors and one for outside stuff. I absolutely recommend it if you find that your glucosamine and chondroitin tablets are taking awhile to kick in with that knee pain!
"Great household and gardening "tool"" 2007-04-26
By Irish Lace (St. Louis Missouri)
I love this neat little household "tool." It's compact, light, sturdy, folds up, easy to carry, hose-off-able and makes getting up and down from my knees SO much easier. I even realized that I could bring it inside and it made a perfect stool for cleaning low cabinets or a kneeler for scrubbing baseboards. Absolutely recommend. I'm thinking of getting them as gifts for my home-owning family members and friends.
"Pamper your favorite gardener" 2007-11-16
By Kathlyn Storey (Rancho Murieta, CA)
I have owned this bench/kneeler for some years and would not part with it. It is lightweight but amazingly strong. It is a ready made seat for me in the garage, and it doesn't take up much space. I am (unfortunately) 175 pounds, and this bench supports me easily. Because of arthritis, the kneeler option is a must for me out in the garden not just because of my knees but because the bench's legs will help me stand up. This is money well spent for anyone you know who is a serious gardener.
"Useful for someone who is hadicapped" 2006-07-04
By S. Guthrie (WI USA)
I bought this for my sister who is undergoing chemotherapy and still wanted to be able to work a little with her flowers. She is quite weak and has a hard time getting up and down. In the sitting position this works very well for her, she can reach her flowers and pull a few weeds. And when she gets a little stronger and can kneel, will be able to use the high sides to assist her in getting up. She likes the seat really well. It has enabled her to do something she enjoys.
"Great item for gardening" 2007-08-17
By Jeri Baumeister
I ordered this kneeler after borrowing a neighbors and finding it a great product. However, I must say, I first ordered it from Amazon at appx. $10 less and with no shipping. But surprise - after waiting appx. 2 months was informed it would be a wait until January before available. So found the same item at a higher cost and paid shipping. However, still had to go through Amazon to find it. It was not available on the vendor's website - at least that I could find. Still well worth it. I find that I cannot do without it. No more sore muscles and weeding has been so easy. I am not a spring chicken. I first thought it would be a pain to keep moving it to the next point along a long flower bed. No such thing. Just disappointed in Amazon for offering something they could not provide. The kneeler I finally ordered from Florian (though Amazon) arrived as promised on the exact day it was promised. Highly recommend this item for folks who have a little trouble getting up and down while weeding. Actually think it is a good thing for anyone doing this labor intesive chore.

Cordless Ultrasonic Repeller for Yard and Garden Review.
"Worked great for me! Location matters." 2010-03-02
By techno junkie on limited budget (CA, USA)
I have the neighbor's cats that use the area under my master bedroom window for their own personal litter box.. It drives me crazy! I put one of these on a 3 foot post under my window and no droppings. The whole wall is now protected. I know it works because the cats now use the other wall that is out of range of the first repeller.
Now I bought another one for that wall. It can't come soon enough.
Location matters. I first had the unit on a fence in the backyard. It was not proteced by rain or sun. It did not work well there and made a loud noice. Under my window it is protected from the rain and the sun and it work perfectly.
Be sure you have it at least 3 feet off the ground and use quality batteries.
Pros:
Inexpensive and it works to keep cats away!
Cons:
Uses a lot of batteries. (6 C batteries)
"works for us" 2010-02-28
By C. Marin (Whittier, CA USA)
We have an outdoor fishpond and have had problems with raccoons through the years. We can successfully trap them but now that animal control will no longer pick them up, we had to come up with a different solution. I did not expect this device to work, but we've had no raccoons since we set it up near the pond one year ago. We do bring ours into our covered patio area when rain is expected, and we had to change batteries after about 6 months. It's easy to tell if new ones are needed if the red light doesn't turn on when you push the button. By the way, a big dog also works well, but we are dog less now that we travel more.
"It works" 2009-12-05
By E. Lee (SF Bay Area)
We got this unit to stop the stray cats climbing on the car that we parked out of the garage.
It really works. After the unit was installed, no more cat prints on the hood & on the roof
of the car.
"cats be gone" 2009-12-14
By John W. Pickett (Orlando, FL)
I use this item in Orlando, and I have two cars on the outside of my house. I find that they work really well, and I am ordering two more for a friend. I have not had a cat get on my cars in two weeks. I like the fact that it shuts off automatically when not in use and comes on when an animal (cat) comes in the radius that makes it go on automatically. I place one on my trunk and one on the hood. I go one step further in I have glued 6 magnets on the bottom of the unit and placed a clear piece of tape over them, so it won't scratch the car. In this way it will stay where you put it.
"Good-bye neighbor CATS" 2009-11-01
By Tj Johnson (Arizona)
This has worked for me. I can see the red led light "on" and so when the batteries need to be replaced~~I think that red led light will be "off", and know it is time to replace the batteries. It also has an "off-on" switch~~so when the cats are gone for good...I can bring it back into the house to store it.
I used my small white plastic end table and placed the Repeller on it. Then left it where the cats walk by the side of my house~~and I haven't seen them back.
But then I saw they were drinking from my fountain... I just moved the table to another end of my back yard to be close to the fountain~~and it must be working because I haven't seen any more CATS.
I do wish there would be a leash-law for CATS!!! Dang it!! TJ

Earthway 1001-B Precision Garden Seeder with 6 Seed Plates Review.
"Earthway Seeder" 2000-09-02
By stick (Trego,WI,54888)
This is an excellent product and it makes short work of planting your garden. The planter is very efficient and makes super straight rows once you get started. I planted six rows of sweet corn and three rows of beans in less than 5 minutes.
"Too awesome for words!" 2006-07-11
By Amber Dixon (central pennsylvania)
First of all, I'm a gardener from way back. I helped my mom weed her flowers when I was still in the womb. I love garden gadgets and all things bliss-enhancing. When I was a teenager my grandfather bought the first incarnation of the Earthway Precision Garden Seeder and it was love at first shove. Not only does it plow the furrow, it plants the seeds at a precise depth and covers them up, it also marks the next row for you so that your garden doesn't sprout into a psychadelic homage to 1970's acid waves. I love, love, love this little jigger! It clogs from time to time, but if you're watching every perfect little seed get tucked away neatly into it's new earthly bed, you'll catch it before you have to re-plant the entire garden. What took my father and me 2 hours last year to do by hand, we did in under 15 mintues using this little gem. An entire garden planted in 15 minutes! And not only that, but we hand-sowed a 1/4 acre plot of corn in under 25 mintues, stopping to pass off and admire the absolute fantastical spectacle of it all as it was happening. LOVE this thing!
"Earthway Garden Seeder - Timesaving & Back Saver!" 2008-06-22
By Shelly L. Fizer (Charleston, West Virginia)
We plant a large garden every year, and still home can most of our vegetables. Planting corn and beans, and having to hoe to cover them up is time consuming and back breaking, depending on how much you plant - I planted 4 rows of corn, about 100 yards long each in around 15 minutes - it was great! If you want to seed a little heavier in your corn rows - just run over it twice - Love it!

EarthBox RB-EB-TRC-PBB Garden Kit, Terra Cotta Review.
"Great container gardening" 2007-10-31
By Jeffrey S. Arrowood (Arpin, WI USA)
The Earth Box is an innovative approach to container gardening. The reservoir system ensures that the plants get exactly the water they need. All you have to do is keep the reservoir from drying out, which requires you to fill it every other day or so. You can't over-water - you just fill the reservoir until water comes out the overflow hole. Plants use different amounts of water at different times of their growth, so when I fill the Earth Box every other day, I sometimes topped it off quickly and sometimes needed to fill nearly the entire reservoir. When plants are using more water, it can take a lot of time to fill the reservoir. I set up a rain barrel with a 1.5" flexible tubing and a spigot, which fills the Earth Boxes very quickly. It took forever using a watering can. The fertilizer strip system works wonderfully too, providing adequate nutrients without risk of burning the plants (you don't use slow release fertilizer in the Earth Box).
You can use the Earth Box to grow transplants, or to plant from seeds. One word of caution - make sure the cover doesn't cover your plants, especially your emerging seedlings, or the sun will burn the plants. I cut out a square instead of an X for each plant (if the plants are too small to rise above the cover), which increases the chance of weed seed getting into the potting mix but decreases the chance of sunburn.
My plants were a little slow to take off, but they out-grew and out-produced my garden plants. The Earth Box is easy to set up and easy to maintain. However, they are heavy once filled. I use a hand truck to move them in for the winter. They are made of durable plastic, but they can be punctured - one of mine got caught on a protruding nail head and now has a hole in the bottom. Also be aware that the Earth Box requires ongoing purchases - at least of the covers which will need to be changed every year. However, you can use your own potting soil and fertilizer.
"Veggies growing like weeds!" 2007-05-21
By JK (Gold River, CA USA)
I purchased 2 EarthBoxes to test my green thumb with vegetables. For comparison, I planted 2 tomato plants in my first EarthBox and 2 tomato plants in some inexpensive flower/vegetable pots that use the same "water from below" concept. For the first week and a half, there wasn't much of a difference between the Earthbox and the pots, but soon after, the plants in the EarthBox started to pull ahead. After 4 weeks, the plants in the EarthBox are one and a half times the size of the other plants, have much more foliage and are much more mature.
I'm sure a number of variables combine to yield these results, and for me, that's the beauty of the EarthBox; it provides water and fertilizer, and the cover gives protection from weeds and from pests like snails and slugs. Plus, it's easy to set up and to maintain.
My second EarthBox is growing bell peppers, cucumbers and some peas that have grown so well, they look like they want to do battle with my wysteria. So far, I'm very impressed and highly recommend the EarthBox system.
"Great Way to Grow Veggies in a Limited Space" 2007-07-14
By Maria Weiser (Florida)
I bought the EarthBox to grow tomatoes on my lanai in the Florida sun. I planted tiny plants about 2 wks. ago and they're triple their size and flowering - I expect tomatoes by mid-August - about 8 wks. total.
Especially useful in hot climates is the fact that the box is on casters, so it can be wheeled out of the direct mid-day sun, if you want to do that. The directions for assembly are clear and assembly simple. You will need a large bag of potting soil, but that's about it. If you plan to use the box for tomatoes, you don't need to buy the staking framework that's sold for a hefty price separately. A few good stakes from a home supply store will do fine.
"lives up to it's claims" 2007-08-09
By A. Peters (Maine)
Last year I tried the `upside down planters' and they failed miserably. This year I decided to try self-watering containers after reading a book by Edward C. Smith. I ordered the Earth Box because it was set up ready to go. I was late getting started and needed to get the vegetables in as quickly as possible. Set up was very easy. I followed the directions as given as I filled the box. The only thing I wish they would change is to make the water fill tube of clear plastic so there is never a guess when it is time to fill the water reservoir. The tomato plant is healthy with many tomatoes on it. Bush Green bean, lettuce and greens are also doing well. Next year I plan to have more containers, add other vegetables and perhaps some flowers. Some plants do not want such good treatment. Herbs do better with less rich soil and need less water. They will just rot in self-watering containers.
"great for basil" 2007-05-02
By desiree (south carolina)
I planted 6 basil seedlings in my earthbox a couple of weeks ago (after our last freeze) and they have basically doubled in size, very healthy, and very easy to care for once the initial planting was done. The 2 seedlings that I planted in the ground at the same time look comparatively weak. If you're an inexperienced gardener or have poor soil, the earthbox is a great alternative.

Contech Electronics CRO101 Scarecrow Motion-Activated Sprinkler Review.
"A Great Product That Really Works!" 2003-06-22
By JJOJ (Oshkosh, Wisconsin United States)
My husband and I were very disappointed to see that neighborhood rabbits had eaten our bean and pea plants to the stem after only two days of being in the ground. We wanted to keep the rabbits out of the garden area without chemicals, unsightly chicken wire, or traps. We purchased the scarecrow and absolutely love it! After replanting, our bean and pea plants are healthy and growing. The scarecrow seems to be doing its job of letting the rabbits know they are not welcome in the garden area. I have told friends and family about our happy results. I would recommend this item to anyone looking for a solution to unwanted intruders.
"Awesome product **Read this if your problem is Deer!!!!**" 2008-05-15
By A. Fisher (South Carolina, USA)
First off I would tell anyone that this product truly works. If you have any hesitation, my review along with all the others should be proof enough.
I purchased the Scarecrow Sprinkler last year after coming back from vacation to find a brand new shade garden I had planted completely decimated by local deer. We have a family of about 8 deer that I try to keep away, but my neighbors have other agendas. They "feed" the deer with corn which attracts them and frustrates me more and more [if Contech invents a neighbor deterrent, please let me know ;) ]
After mourning the $500+ I lost in plants and shrubs, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I started with "deer-b-gone" or some sort of "organic" deer repellant. It washes away, isn't cheap, smells bad and flat out doesn't work.
I then came across the Scarecrow and decided to give it the old "college try". Well folks, IT WORKS. No more deer, but uh-oh a flaw. Just like others, you have to remember that the Scarecrow is there or "BAM" YOU WILL GET HIT WITH A BLAST OF WATER. It has gotten me, my kids, my wife, a landscaper, our exterminator and one of our neighbors.
LADIES and GENTS..I have the solution to this problem!!!!!
What I realized is that the deer only do their dirty work from dusk to dawn. I thought what if I can get my sprinkler to only work during those hours and shut off during the day. Then I researched to see if there was a water timer that allowed for extended watering times. Say hello to this Orbit timer from Amazon.com Orbit Lawn & Garden Hose Digital Watering Timer And Valve #62001to use in conjunction with the sprinkler. It has completely flexible functions that allow the water to only turn on from say 8 pm to 8 am. It only turns on the water flow to the sprinkler. It will only use the water if the sprinkler motion sensor is set off so no wasted water. At 8 am, the timer turns off the water flow and NO ACCIDENTAL MIDDAY SHOWERS!! Then it kicks back on at 8 pm for another night of protection. These are the times I used but I may need to adjust a bit since I do sometimes make early or late strolls through my garden. You can set to whatever times you need to have it on and off based on your own situation.
So there you have it. Use this product in conjunction with a flexible timer and you get the benefit of excellent deer/pest protection while avoiding many of the minor flaws mentioned in other reviews.
"This product works -deer go away" 2004-06-22
By Jonathan Beeton (Washington, DC USA)
(Update: 4 years after original review: This product continues to keep the deer away. Four years of 6 month a year daily use and the original one is still going strong, plus my Mom bought another herself for another part of the yard. -Excellent product)
I bought this for my Mom in Michigan for Mother's Day. For the past five years she'd tried everything to keep the deer out of her flower garden - netting on the ground, fishing wire placed on posts about 3 feet off the ground... no matter what, some of the deer got in the garden. I'd told her about this product for several years, but she figured it didn't really work, I figured, let's give it a try. It has been installed for 3 weeks now, and the deer have yet to go into her garden (and they live on their property, so they are around). She just told me that some bulbs she planted 5 years ago are blooming for the first time ever - every year before they'd been eaten before they bloomed.
We'd highly recommend this product and she's about to order another.
One hint, get a good hose to go with this product, since the water pressure remains constant, you want a newer hose that can handle that pressure.
"This one works!" 2004-09-10
By Shoaler (Frederick, MD)
We have tried all sorts of things to keep deer from eating our
tomatoes and hosta (and almost everything else) and nothing works
short of covering everything with "deer netting." And the deer
around here are so brave (stupid) that nothing short of running
after them would scare them away.
This gadget certainly scares deer. We saw one older fawn who had
wandered into our back yard in search of breakfast. When he
triggered the device, not only did it bombard him with jets of
water, but the clicking of the sprayer added a sense of emergency
to it. The deer took off like a shot until it had found the
cover of some nearby woods.
Drawbacks: You can only cover a fairly small area, but you can
put it across the deer's usual paths. Moving it around probably
helps, too. And you have to keep it out of the way of the UPS
guy or neighborhood children (unless that's your intent).
"Worth the investment!" 2004-06-12
By E. Taylor (Houston, TX United States)
Our problem is the neighborhood cats who are allowed to roam. They were ruining our garden, lawn, etc. We tried so many different things to keep them away, without any lasting success. The Scarecrow is fantastic! The cats (as well as other bothersome 'strays') stay away and they are not harmed in any way (except perhaps their pride)! The Scarecrow is very well made--quite sturdy. Also, I had the Scarecrow on daily and the battery lasted for nearly two months.
I highly recommend this product--it is effective on more than just deer or rabbits!
Our flower beds and lawn are recovered.

Fiskars 9405 Kangaroo 30-Gallon Gardening Container Review.
"Finally, a Product for Senior Women (and others)" 2000-05-30
By Roberta J. Goldberg (West Covina, CA)
My absolute favorite and useful garden product. This very light weight and versatile yard trimmings container has been dragged from front, to side, to rear yard, without spilling its contents and with true ease. The self-standing feature, wide opening, and ease of dumping by use of very well-placed cloth handles (including midway down the container) make yard clean-up and shrubbery trimming something I now look forward to. The days of dragging around a large, bulky trash container and then trying to grab leaves, branches, etc. between two rakes and throw them in the direction of the container are gone! Thank you Fiskars. My only disappointment is not having several more "loops" around the top rim to hold larger cutting tools such as loppers while I am dragging the Kangaroo to another part of the yard. The Kangaroo is collapsible with buttons and loops for holding it in the collapsed position. The loops double as small tool holder in the open position. And, the inside bottom can be washed out because the container sides collapse. They thought of everything!
"Finally, something to hold open those garden bags!" 2001-05-08
By Rebecca Johnson (Washington State)
Who would have known! A Kangaroo Bag to help me out to hold those huge garden bags open while I toss in weeds, trimmings and other garden waste. When it first arrived I thought it looked like a big pizza. It could fit into a giant pizza box. When you open it up, the bag has two fasteners to keep the bag closed. It is very lightweight.
If you think of a "slinky" spring idea, that is what holds this bag up when it is open. The wire is sewn into the bag and keeps the bag open while you are working. The green fabric covers the wires and the rest of the bag is made from a sturdy vinyl. It is tear and mildew resistant. This can be used with standard 33 gallon garbage can liners.
This has some great handles to allow you to easily dump the bag out if you are just using it for leaves and have your own compost pile. There are handles on the top and base, so you have three handles, two on the top and one at the base.
When not in use, you can hang it up on the garage wall as it will only take up a small amount of space. You could also just toss it up on a shelf to keep it out of the way when you are not in the yard.
I can think of reasons why I want to buy more of these. Let's see, how about a 10 gallon one for when I am just weeding or how about using one of these for an outdoor garbage can when you have a party and everyone is using disposable plates, etc. I could also see using these for storing items in a closet. Some of the other reviewers also had some great ideas for how to use these great gardening containers.

"I love Kangaroos!" 2000-09-06
By Rosey (Dallas, TX USA)
I purchased my first Kangaroo container early this summer and immediately fell in love with it. It is almost as light in weight as a plastic bag BUT it never flops over, is easily emptied and collapses to about three inches for storage. It just doesn't get any better than this for someone who loves to work in her garden.
"Are there TWO different versions of this item?" 2003-10-03
By H. Row (Arvada, CO United States)
I recently purchased a Fiskars 94056974 30 gallon Kangaroo Container and the thing is built like a tank. My impression on how the item is supposed to be used is to open the Kangaroo, put a 30 gallon trash can liner in the Kangaroo and fill with leaves and your five year old son. Then, either make one big pile for you and your son to play in or pull the trash can liners out, tie shut (remove son first) and carry it down to the end of the drive way, so the trash guys can play in the leaves. The item is NOT meant to be dragged across shopping center parking lots. Mine holds a full load of squished down leaves without tearing or ripping. By the way, the product is covered by a two year warranty. I didn't read about any one posting a poor review who attempted getting them resolved utilizing the warranty.
Anyway, the Fiskars 94056974 Kangaroo Container (30 Gallon) works great (like having a third hand). It is versatile as previous reviews have pointed out. An extra trash can utilizing a liner. How about using one for recycling cans? Place a 30 gallon trash liner in the Kangaroo, squish can, "he shoots he scores!!!"
I'm happy with this purchase. It's durable, engineered well, and I'm planning on buying more of both the 10 and 30 gallon models. I expect this to eventually wear out. But, it's been my experience with other Fiskar items that you get your money's worth if you use the item as it was intended.

"My favorite garden tool" 2000-07-12

I bought the 10gal and the 30gal. I love them! They're lightweight, easy to drag around and the handles make them very easy to dump. They fold down to 2-3" which saves a lot of storage space. One word of caution... I dragged mine across a driveway and put several very small holes in the bottom. I am buying one of each for my mother-inlaw and my sisters.
